"Broomfields" is a cherished family holiday home that has been enjoyed by the same family since 1948. They have renovated and added modern conveniences while taking care to retain the classic charm of this home, which was the first home built in Wharewaka. In an enviable position on one of the best streets in Taupo, this lovely lodge-style home has an amazing outlook over Lake Taupo, to the mountains. It is the perfect place to enjoy a drink on the deck, watching the sun go down.
This family home has been equipped with everything guests need for a relaxing, easy holiday.
PARKING: There is space for parking three cars one behind the other on the driveway by the side of the house. You can also park on the road in front of the house. Parking on the lawn at the front of the house is not permitted to preserve the quality of the grass.
BEDROOMS: The master bedroom has a King bed that sleeps two, the 2nd bedroom has a Queen bed that sleeps two and the 3rd bedroom has two single beds and sleeps 2, so a total of 6 people can be accommodated in the house. All three bedrooms have their own wardrobes with plenty of hangers provided in each wardrobe. There is additional / spare bed linen kept in all wardrobes.
BATHROOMS: The large ensuite next to the master bedroom has a shower, toilet and washbasin. The 2nd bathroom has a bathtub and shower and a washbasin. A separate toilet is located next to it.
KITCHEN & DINING: The fully equipped kitchen has a 4-burner electric stove with oven, plenty of ovenware, a large fridge, a 2nd fridge-freezer, microwave, kettle, tea and coffee cups, wine and water glasses, cooking pots, non-stick saucepans, knives, cutting boards, utensils, cutlery and crockery.
LOUNGE-DINING: For your “downtime entertainment” there are plenty of books to read, two TVs, unlimited Internet and music system.
BACKYARD: The large back yard is perfect for little ones to run around and play, or a game of backyard cricket. There is a gas BBQ for guest use as well.
LAUNDRY: The laundry has a washing machine and dryer and there is a washing line to sun-dry clothes in the backyard.
Guests can access all rooms in the house. Some cupboards in the house are locked as they contain the owner's personal belongings. There is a locked garage and a small cabin at the back of the house which are locked by the owners to which guests have no access. The fridge freezer holds one shelf of sauces and condiments that are not for guest use, as they belong to the owner.
This property operates self check-in. You will be sent the code for the lockbox prior to arrival. There is a property manager, who will come to meet you early in your stay, and who is available in case of any issues.
The house is set in a quiet residential suburb and is very peaceful. It's a minute’s walk to the shores of magnificent Lake Taupo. The parklands around this stretch of the bay are part of an extremely popular running / walking / cycling trail called Lion's Walk (also known as the Great Lake Walkway) which is a 10 km-long paved path that runs parallel to the shoreline.....this is part of the annual half Ironman and Full Ironman competitions.
So whether you want to swim, kayak, trout-fish or water ski, the largest freshwater lake in New Zealand is literally across the road. Taupo town centre is a short drive and shops, pub, eateries are about 5 minutes away.
Taupo has limited local transport (by bus) but there are taxis available. Most people (locals and visitors) drive, but there are inter-city buses that transport people to other towns.
This is a quiet residential neighbourhood so we ask guests to be respectful of that and keep noise to a minimum after 9pm.
PLEASE TREAT OUR PRECIOUS FAMILY BACH AS IF IT WERE YOUR OWN.
If any liquid is spilt on the carpet or upholstery, bed etc, please clean this immediately and also let us know if a stain is still visible afterwards.
Please leave all footwear outside the front door in the basket placed there.
Absolutely no smoking or vaping indoors.
Please do not take anything that belongs to the Air B n B out of the house, including cutlery, towels or books to the lakeside / beach or the hot pools. If anything in the house is damaged / broken by you, pls let us know immediately. If any items are found missing after you check out, we will inform Air B n B so they can deduct the amount from your credit card. This includes books which are for guests to enjoy during their stay.
Please restrict hot water showers to avoid running out of hot water.
Please switch off lights and all other electrical appliances when not in use. If you are staying during winter, pls do not leave the heat pump or any of the individual room heaters on when nobody is home as this is a definite fire hazard.
Please do not exceed the temperature setting of the heat pump above 25 degrees centigrade or it will turn itself off as a safety precaution. The fireplace is not available for guest use. t
Please do not put anything down the toilet other than toilet tissue.
Please do not use the sauces and condiments the owner keeps in the fridge freezer.
Please park on the driveway by the side of the house...one car can be parked on the road in front of the house but under no circumstances are any vehicles to be parked on the lawn in the front yard. This will destroy the newly laid grass.
Feel free to move the outside chairs to the deck but the cushions are NOT water-proof so they need to be brought back indoors every night and if there is any chance of rain.
Please leave the curtains open in the front room and bedrooms during the day to let a bit of sun in, especially in winter.
Please leave the washing machine lid up to keep it aired.
All used towels should be left in the washing baskets in the laundry for washing.
RUBBISH - Two bags and a recycling bin are provided free of charge. These are located under the kitchen sink, with a large bin outside the back door and close the lid securely to prevent pests getting access to the rubbish. Any surplus rubbish, please leave in rubbish bags beside the bins. Please contact us if this is an issue for any reason.
