SummerHouse is a wonderful holiday let for 14, nestled in extensive grounds in picturesque Somerset countryside, overlooking the stunning Mendip foothills in the Chew Valley.

Exclusively yours, this magnificent private estate comprises a lovingly restored stables and a granary - Old Stables, sleeping eight, and East Wing, sleeping six. Originally built in 1800 as part of the Belluton Grange estate to serve the nearby villages, nowadays they are full of comfy rooms, and offer unique and memorable stays for large groups.

The old barn, meanwhile, has been turned into a spa with heated swimming pool, hot tub, steam shower and changing rooms. Indulge in the range of activities on hand. Or kick back and relax! This is available for your sole use between 8.00 - 20.00.

Old Stables and East Wing are adjacent to each other, being connected by a shared laundry room between them.

Located in ten acres of beautiful grounds with a panorama of the Mendips as your morning view, on a short walk, you will encounter the eponymous summerhouse, as well as Georgian features including a well and a rare Horse Wash, utilising a natural spring.

Old Stables comprises accommodation for eight over four bedrooms. Retaining its original character, it benefits from two reception rooms: The Garden Room/Conservatory has a large dining table seating up to 14 guests and magnificent views of the iconic Pensford viaduct, straddling the Chew Valley, that speaks of the heyday of train travel. The spacious sitting room has comfortable seating and a wood burner. A fully equipped open plan breakfasting kitchen is next to the living area. All of these rooms have French doors that lead onto the garden.

Upstairs are three len-suite bedrooms, two with super king beds that can be made up as twins if required, and the third with a 5 ' king. Two have bathrooms with freestanding baths and separate showers., one has a shower room. The fourth bedroom is located downstairs and has full size bunk-beds and access to a downstairs washroom. Please be aware this is more suitable for children due to a maximum ceiling height of 4ft

East Wing (the show-off little sister), provides ground floor accommodation for six over three beautiful en suite bedrooms. Its spacious sitting/dining room has ceiling-to-floor windows, and a magnificent fireplace with a cosy wood burner. There is an HDTV with a Wii, Android TV box and a Blu-Ray player. A bank of skylights stream natural light into the room making it nice and bright. Just off the living room, there is a modern kitchen with an electric oven, gas hob, built-in microwave, and a slimline dishwasher.

Opposite the front door and entrance hall is Wisteria, a super king/twin bedroom with a TV and en suite walk-in shower. Just off the living room are two further en suite bedrooms: Willow has a super king bed (can convert to twins), TV and en suite bathroom with a freestanding slipper bath and walk-in shower; Magnolia, has a comfortable 5' bed, TV, and en suite with bath and overhead shower.

Outside SummerHouse, a private terrace has ample seating for your party, with loungers, comfy chairs and a charcoal barbecue. There is also a private patio with charcoal barbecue at the foot of the driveway. The garden itself is shared by guests and owners alike.


There's plenty to keep you on site and lots of reasons to venture out into the beautiful Somerset countryside! SummerHouse is situated in Belluton, a hamlet on the B3130, which was mentioned in the Domesday Book, and nearby Pensford has a wealth of history too.

SummerHouse is within easy access to the A37 for travelling to the Georgian city of Bath and the home of Isambard Kingdom Brunel: Bristol. Both cities can be reached within 30 minutes.

SummerHouse is also ideally situated for visiting the historic City of Wells, England's smallest city, with its ancient Cathedral, Bishop's Palace and lovely market square with its twice weekly market.

Within easy reach are the impressive gorge and caves of Cheddar and Wookey Hole, historic Glastonbury, and the new designer outlet at Kilver Court.

Chew Valley is unique in the West Country, comprising some 35,000 acres of unspoilt and protected countryside which occupies the middle ground of the Bath, Bristol and Wells triangle. Dominating the south side of the valley are the foothills of the Mendip Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The valley contains both the Chew Valley and Blagdon Lakes, notably for their fishing, birdlife, sailing and nature study amenities. The villages in the Valley are all unspoilt and each has its individual charm and character.

There are several walks from the front door, including a stiff climb up to the Iron Age Hill fort atop Norton Malreward or a meander along the Chew Valley to see the Stanton Drew Standing Stones.

There is great food to be found at The Rising Sun in Pensford and 'the Pelly', The Lazy Lobster and The Bear and Swan in Chew Magna. If you are looking for gourmet dining, look no further than The Pig near Bath, four miles distant. Please note, you will need to make a reservation for The Pig well in advance.

SummerHouse provides perfect group accommodation for guests attending weddings at The Pig near Bath, a nine minute taxi drive away. Weddings at Folly Farm, and Ston Easton Park can be reached within 11-15 minutes' drive.

The cottages at SummerHouse are also available to rent separately for smaller groups - Old Stables (sleeps 8) and East Wing (sleeps 6).
