Summary: If you are looking for a quiet, comfortable place to rest your head & body, this is it. I told the owner it is the perfect cross between camping & a hotel: you get the beauty, tranquility, views & outdoorsy fun of a campsite in bluff country (firepit with grill right outside the cabin to roast meats & marshmallows, excellent hiking trails, a hammock, and so many birds - cardinals, chickadees, whippoorwills, pileated woodpeckers, red-bellied woodpeckers, eagles, owls) but then….you have a solid structure to sleep in (on a super comfy double bed), eat in (2 burner cooktop inside), do your bodily business in (solid compost toilet) and enjoy a thunderstorm in (laying in the bed watching it rain & lightning thru the huge skylight overhead was mesmerizing!). Lorne is accommodating, readily available (he lives up the hill) and has the most amazing dog, Hopps: he will greet you, hike with you (there is close to 2 miles of hiking trails on the property) and lay outside the door of the cabin to rest and happily accept scratches whenever you have time to give them. Hopps was a truly wonderful bonus! I am already planning a fall trip for another spectacular weekend. Thank you Lorne, for creating such a peaceful, beautiful place for us to rest, relax and recharge.

Summary: We stayed here for my birthday weekend and couldn't have picked a better location. Lorne was friendly and perfectly accommodating to us in the few brief moments we had questions. The cabin was perfectly cozy for two people, and we never felt like more was necessary. The solar panel provided enough power to charge our phones and power the lights overhead despite it being winter time. The trails in the winter were beautiful and easily distinguishable with brush cleared and signs indicating the correct direction. The kitchen had pans, a gas stove, plates, silverware, cups, cooking utensils, salt/pepper, and pot holders. We brought our own paper ware but it was nice knowing it was there. The heater worked phenomenally inside, just like the ones in the state park camper cabins. The dog that lived on the property was our buddy for most of the trip which we enjoyed especially when we went hiking and he lead the way, though we were offered to have him tied up if he bothered us. My two warnings are for the winter an AWD vehicle is recommended. We took a rear wheel drive down the steep driveway and made it, but it was iffy going up the two times we did. There had already been dirt/gravel laid down prior to our arrival and that was the saving grace. The second warning is cell service which is not that big of an issue. We have T-Mobile and it was in and out while inside. In the nearby town of Elba it was non-existent so definitely count on that. We definitely had a blast and would definitely come back. Thank you Lorne for the great stay!

Summary: The location of Lorne's cabin is breathtaking. The view from the cabin is a vast bluff area. The yard has beautiful flowers and a very peaceful secluded feel. Additional bonus, If you walk out to the field right behind the cabin you will see the best star view you can imagine ☺️
