Positive: The host Marco was very accommodating and helpful. You can see that he cares about his guests. The moskito net which is over the bed, helped a lot during the night. The kitchen is equipped well enough to cook decent meals.
Negative: The moskitos and sandflies were quite a problem. It would have helped if the doors would have screens so when entering or leaving no moskitos can enter.
Summary: I am glad I found the Calabash Cottage, it was a really nice stay for the first 11 days.

Positive: The location is within 3 mins walking distance of Galley Bay beach but there is no bar or sun loungers so it is a 'swim only' beach - the rest of the beach is for Galley Bay Resort guests. We loved the visiting birds on the terrace and felt very much 'back to nature' here as the property is set into the hillside. Marco was a great host and was keen to ensure we were happy.
Negative: The description on Booking.com was somewhat misleading in that is stated the property was 'located on the ground floor'. the property is on one level but there is a steep slope and steps to reach it which might be an issue for less fit people. From the description, we expected two bedrooms and a separate sitting room, however one bedroom has a sofa in it and this has to double as a sitting room and leads out onto the terrace. The bed was not even a standard double but 4' which we found a problem - just far too small. When we mentioned this to Marco, he immediately offered us Breeze Cottage (which was just up a few steps) and this was amazing with a lovely large bed and a beautiful terrace overlooking the bay. This gesture made our stay! Calabash Cottage could do with a bit of a make-over, its a bit tired (especially the kitchen) and it definitely needs a bigger bed in the 2nd bedroom to make is suitable for 4 adults and some more outdoor furniture (sunbeds).

Positive: We were met at the property after trying and failing to drive up the hill to the house, so we parked and dragged our stuff up the hill (the first time was the worst - after that we got used to it). The house and annexe was really charming. Proper old school colonial vibes - no air con but fans. Shabby chic. We loved the characterful nature of it, the outside deck sitting among the trees listening to the birds and frogs & the beach nearby.
Negative: This is not recommended if you want all mod cons, spotless modern furniture and fittings and strong wifi and water pressure. Also, if you sleep in the separate annexe you actually have to go outside to get to your bathroom (all private and a bit of an adventure but no good if you're scared of the wildlife). But if you want peaceful paradise it's really great.

Negative: Had an issue with water supply which took a little too long to be resolved. Finally the pros were called in and it was resolved. Water pressure was permanently low throughout the stay but minimally tolerable.
Summary: Location is quiet, safe, close to beach. Quite relaxing. Close to supermarket.

Positive: The house was very clean and tidy, and it was great to have some biscuits, tea, coffee and milk available upon arrival. The host, Marco, had arrange a taxi for us to pick us up from the airport, which was brilliant.
Negative: The fact that the sleeping rooms are in separate buildings (although close) didn't work so well for us with two young children.
