There are no traffic noises, just wind through the pines.
NOTICE through end of June:
1. We are expanding what we offer our guests and are constructing an authentic Hobbit Hole :-) which we expect to be available late summer or early fall.
2. We have 340 acres of land - a whole mountain - and during the completion of this Hobbit Hole addition you have your choice of several sites to camp. We will show you when you arrive and try to send out pictures and a map of the available locations - one portrayed in the description and photos and others that are more remote on the property. Remote locations will have fire-pit, camp chairs, and picnic table only.
THE SETTING:
Breathtaking views in a private location on 340 secluded acres. Here you can truly get away from it all. A lot of creature comforts, but no electricity, internet, TV, etc. Potable water available at no charge. Firewood available for a $5 fee (about 1/2 price compared to in-town purchase).
Owners/hosts live nearby and are a short walk away if you need anything. You'll hear the wind in the trees, birds in the summer, and elk bugling in the fall - but no traffic, sirens, or other 'city' noises. The wonderful smell of pine, cedar, and spruce will refresh you as you relax around the fire and fall asleep at night.
FIREPIT and EVENING SKIES:
Log seating surrounds the firepit. Firepit use subject to state and county restrictions. The skies are black, and there are so many stars that it's difficult to find familiar constellations. You'll see the Milky Way arching across the sky at night.
The Perseid meteor shower occurs in mid-August, reaching peak activity around August 15. What a show! Be patient, and you'll see the International Space Station and other satellites passing overhead on clear nights.
KITCHEN and DINING:
Redwood picnic table and benches, dish washing pan (and detergent), authentic enamelware plates, bowls, cups, and spoons. Flatware, glasses, cooking utensils, pots, pans, dish towels, salt, pepper, sugar, french press coffee pot. Locked container is for food and trash.
For the convenience of our guests we offer the following on a daily basis for a nominal charge or you can, of course, bring your own.
- Firewood $5/bundle
- ice $2/ 10-lb bag
- snacks:
- - popcorn for use w/ campfire popcorn popper $1

Summary: Wonderful glamping experience! The Tipi is spacious and the beds comfortable. Pretty much everything you need is provided, which was great for me since I have not camped in a very long time. The property is lovely and the views gorgeous including the deer that walked thru the campsite as I was reading early morning. Michael and Joyce are very helpful and communicative. This location is a must especially if you are looking for a very quiet relaxing weekend getaway but dont want the hassle of remembering/packing all of your camping gear.

Summary: Beautiful property, comfortable teepee, and lots of wildlife! If you want to getaway from the hustle and bustle and relax in a clean, quiet retreat, this place is great! Property owners are kind and considerate. The 9000’ elevation keeps temps down in the summer, but there was a nice warm blanket in the teepee!

Summary: We spent the weekend at the Tipi and came home rested and rejuvenated. My teenage boys enjoyed their first 'glamping' (real beds in a tent) experience. We usually backpack or camp on the ground style. The light-lined paths added a magical feel to the nights and made it feel extra special. We got to watch a herd of deer in our campsite for about a 45 minutes one early morning. Great way to start our day. The stars were amazing. All around a great getaway. They may need to reassess the toilet situation if they continue to have a good volume of guests. Other than that - it was a lovely experience and just what we needed to kick off the cold weather season. Thank you for the hospitality!

Summary: Being at 9,000 ft. elevation in the southern Rockies in a campsite sleeping in a teepee was a bucket list moment for us!! We saw some wildlife, smelled the pine and cedar and just enjoyed the gorgeous views and sunsets. The setting is surreal! The campsite has different areas, teepee, firepit with chairs and log stumps, outdoor shower, bathroom enclosure, and picnic/cooking area. The paths to each area are lined with wood branches and at night the solar lights illuminate the paths and is so pretty. The teepee itself is roomy and felt very secure. The second night it rained a bit and the winds were strong, but we felt secure and stayed dry. The mattresses were super-comfy, the linens were soft and the comforter/blankets kept us super warm. The outdoor shower was a fun experience. The toilet enclosure had everything you could need. Unfortunately, there was a burn ban during our stay so we were not able to have a fire in the firepit. The hosts do provide many amenities, but double check before your stay as the nearest grocery store is approximately 45 minutes away and you probably do not want to do the drive back in to town for a forgotten item. The hosts live on the property and met us when we arrived to show us around. All around a great stay where we made lifelong memories!!
