Positive: We prefer to be away from crowds and self-sufficient and this place was great for that. It's right next 2 a train track - but there was only 1 train that came through whilst we were there. The area is out of the main town and is very quiet and so was perfect for us. The restaurant in the hotel is closed and the building looks rundown from the outside, but the room we had was perfect. Very clean, the beds were very comfortable, the bathroom looked newly renovated. There was a fridge and microwave that we used to make dinner. Great for independent travelers. 30 minutes easy drive from Denali National Park through gorgeous scenery - you can see Denali from just south of Cantwell

Negative: The outside of the building looks really run down and we weren't quite sure where the reception was. The room itself was much nicer than the outside

Positive: Odd. Nice breakfast laid out for self serve, but lights were out & coffee was not plugged in. We found the light switch & started the coffee. Never saw any staff that morning. The setting was beautiful. Great night sky.

Negative: Trouble with water. Good at telling us when it went off, but not that it came back on. We weren't really inconvenienced, as we had brought water. Bar area was super cool & would have liked to see it up and running.

Positive: The room was spacious and well stocked. Bathroom clean, great towels. Good breakfast; never had croissants provided in Alaska before!

Negative: A bit off the beaten track, but quiet except for the trains.
