Positive: The owner is very nice and caring. Both me and my boyfriend got food poisoning after having dinner in one restaurant, but the lady called a doctor and helped take care of us. I am truly thankful to her and her family.

Positive: 1.5 km from town - easy to get to with a roller bag. Nice to have kitchen set up w pots and utensils if wanted to cook.
Negative: As a single female this was not a good choice. I travel alone and rarely feel uncomfortable. To start, there are no street lights in Stromboli and this is down an alleyway that has curves where you can’t see around the corner, the houses are all dark and quiet. There are a few abandoned buildings to walk past. If you’re a couple it seems fine, but wouldn’t recommend for a single woman. If you go, bring a torch (flashlight) or head lamp. Furthermore, there is a shared bathroom. There was 1 other couple and me. And it wasn’t enough. If the place was full would have been more than problematic! Additionally, the family lives there with a young boy who likes to bounce his basketball in front of the rented rooms. Granted we are in their home - but if you rent out your home I expect not to be woken up from sleep by this very loud noise ( more than once) Finally, I felt supervised. They were very aware of my coming snd going and the man if the house is home all day. I locked my door to sleep because I was uncomfortable w the proximity and vigilance. Maybe ok if you are a couple… Which leads to another 2 issues. There is only a fan which means the room is suffocating in the summer w the door locked. If there were 2 people sleeping in the room it would have been even worse! Also, I didn’t want to change in the room because the curtain provided to close off the doorway, at night w the light on, didn’t provide enough privacy to make it possible. If someone happened to be in front of the door they could easily see in. Also, as mentioned, there was only 1 couple besides me. But only 1one 2-cup espresso maker. So if the couple made themselves coffee at their table for breakfast, it meant I would have to wait until they were finished (maybe 30 minutes later?) to have access to make myself coffee. Or go in town. I know the islanders depend on tourism, BUT, there is a difference between rustic and uncomfortable!!
Summary: Not good for single women. Problematic re bathroom availability.

Positive: Lovely atmosphere. Very close to the meeting point if you or going on guided tour of volcano. Big room with very comfortable bed.
Negative: A bit hard to find as Google maps shows wrong location.

Positive: + Charming and nice host + Effective communication + Possibility to take the room at 12:00 + Very nice garden + Superb view on the Stromboli
Negative: - small room - soft bed - no air conditioning and fan not efficient - shared bathroom Too expensive for the quality of room. But otherwise really charming and relaxing.
Summary: A quiet place in a beautiful garden.
