Positive: This is a charming rustic self catering style apartment with many thoughtful touches such as a selection of pens on the desk. It was very clean and well laid out with everything you would need for a comfortable stay. I would say that it goes way beyond the facilities that are on offer at any good hotel. It is very central which is a bonus. The owner, José is a charming and very helpful man. Many people have complained about the church bells which of course the owner can do nothing about. They did not bother me much as I live in a village with a church. There are two churches within spitting distance of the accommodation. The bells strike on the quarter hour which is unusual. Sadly the bells are not synchronised so one is exposed to a double set. You soon get used to it and it is better than trying to find your phone to look at the time.

Positive: The hospitality offered by Mr Jose was exceptional. We arrived later than expected at 6pm on a Sunday walking the Camino Nascente. Nothing was a problem for Mr Jose who assisted us to make a dinner reservation (good food & value at Alameda Restaurant suited us). The little house on 3 levels was as advertised, clean, central and good value. Perfect for our purpose with a self-service stamp for our pilgrim passport which was a nice surprise. Bicycles are available together with hats should you stay longer! Everything to make a stay comfortable. We wished we could stay longer & explore the town & area from Casa Medieval da Nisa. We found the nearby Cafe Dom Dinis open at 6:30am for a good breakfast & great hospitality before continuing on our walk.

Negative: Note that the 3rd level roof is very low (as advertised). No problem for the 1 short night (we left our backpacks on the ground floor). If we'd stayed longer the sleeper couch on the 2nd floor may have been more comfortable.

Positive: Look, the place is actually really cute and I liked the simple but yet well quipped space. José was nice, left fresh garden goods, a cool Polaroid camera, super comfortable mattress, and really clean!!!!!

Negative: BUT the place is VERY close to the towns clock tower... and it clocks EVERY 15 mnts. Night and day.... It really bothered my sleep. PLUS, the bathroom is in the ground floor and the bed is in a gallery of the second floor.. so if usually you pee at night it's quite uncomfortable.
