4 Bedroom Villa in Baschi, Civitella del Lago

Our rustic country house, located on a green hill just a couple of minutes from the charming village of Civitella del Lago, overlooks the lake of Corbara and almost the entire valley of the Tiber. The view is breathtaking! We bet it will be challenging for your gaze! The fabulous view stretches from Monte Fiascone to the Lake of Corbara, form Monte Argentario to Monte Amiata.
The ancient materials such as stone and wood have been carefully renovated and restored. The House is a gateway that leads to the past and our conservative hard work warranties the splendour of the past centuries.
The fields of olive trees, the surrounding wheat fields and the huge Mediterranean garden surrounding the property will envelop your senses with the perfumes carried by the wind. The interiors are furnished with great taste and simplicity, respecting the style and the charm of the place. The ceilings with wooden beams and the terracotta or wooden floors are characteristic of the area!
The spaces are organized on several levels:
- Ground floor: living room with fireplace, kitchen with dining area, outdoor terrace and bathroom.
- First floor: two double bedrooms, living room with fireplace, second kitchen connected to another outdoor terrace, bathroom.
-Second floor: two double bedrooms, a little living room and a bathroom.
The villa is surrounded by paved terraces located on different levels and furnished with tables and chairs. Our guests will find a huge and very well maintained Mediterranean garden furnished with chairs and benches just located in the shade of large pines, oaks and cypresses. There is also a nice swimming pool with sun loungers! This part of the garden is slightly above the house level and from there you can enjoy an amazing view during a refreshing swim. We also taught about our younger guests: you will find swings, a jumping trampoline and a volleyball/tennis net.
We also produce and sell a first quality extra virgin olive oil!
All the comforts you need are available in the property: washing machine, dishwasher, oven, fridge, BBQ. This is the ideal destination for all types of holidays: with family, with friends, romantic, cultural…

Summary: The entire family really enjoyed the Villa, property and pool. Relaxing, quiet and beautiful. Fantastic views of the Umbrian countryside. We loved cooking and the barbecue. Prospective renters with mobility or visual issues may find the levels challenging. The town is in walking distance and has great restaurants and small stores to stock up supplies. Great home base location for day trips within the area. Would love to visit again.

Summary: Our family group of 6 stayed at Casa Olea in August 2020. It was wonderfully spacious with incredible views and gardens - we loved the relaxation it offered us. Claudio the owner was superbly welcoming and nothing was too much trouble (even asking us for a shopping list so he could buy us groceries as we were arriving when the shops would be shut for a holiday weekend). It was unfortunate that the bridge on the road to Orvieto was shut for repairs so getting to larger towns took more time than expected but this could not be helped. As a rural retreat in beautiful (and hot) countryside - we would highly recommend!

Summary: Susan and Claudio were so lovely upon greeting us! They provided anything we needed . We had an amazing stay on this heavenly property and villa. We cooked lovely meals with the local fresh groceries and used the herbs grown on the property. The villa was comfortable! And had everything we needed. And the pool was refreshing with amazing views! We explored surrounding towns and loved upper Orvieto! We dined out locally and drank amazing wines. We would highly recommend this property ! 5 of us stayed in the villa and had lots of space . We will always remember our patio dinners and watching the breathtaking view and the sun going down. We have fond memories of this amazing stay! Rana , Hugh , Lorette , Nathan and Samantha —- Kelowna , Canada

Summary: We had a wonderful stay. Claudio and Susan were at the villa to greet us and were easily contactable if we needed any help. The villa was very spacious and the kitchen was very well equipped. Everything was charming inside. The views were lovely, especially from the swimming pool where you could see for miles. There were several areas to eat or sit outside in the shade and enjoy the quiet of the countryside. A very large supermarket was available at Orvieto but there were also nearby towns with smaller food stores. We were sorry to leave this beautiful area.

Summary: Two couples spent the week in Claudio's house. The grounds were lush with spectacular views, just what you might imagine Umbria to be. The house was very comfortable, including the beds, the large bathrooms, the kitchen and the many outdoor spaces. Claudio had left lots of brochures with recommendations for places to visit, shop and eat out at. The countryside is full of quaint towns within one hours' drive. We were usually able to visit one of them and still make it back with plenty of time to read (which usually resulted in a nap) or lounge poolside before making dinner which we would eat outside as the sun went down. We felt like we got a real feel for the relaxed Umbrian way of life. We highly recommend this property.

Summary: We could not have been happier with our accommodations in Umbria! Having never been to the area before we didn’t know what to expect and were stunned by the beauty and the amazing views of the Umbrian countryside. We arrived at this house after touring Rome so the relaxed, uncrowded setting was a sheer pleasure. The house itself was fantastic – coming from the United States we simply don’t have anything that old or with so much history so it was a great treat for us. Having the modern conveniences combined with the old-world charm was much appreciated. The layout was perfect for two families (2 bedrooms on each of the upper floors) and the kitchen was exceptionally well-appointed so we could cook as much as we pleased (especially with the delicious house made olive oil!). Kids and parents alike enjoyed many hours relaxing in the pool enjoying the beautiful views of Umbria. When we weren’t relaxing in the pool we visited Orvieto, Todi and Civita de Bagnoregio, all of which were incredibly picturesque and not to be missed. We also enjoyed a few evenings in the local village (Civitella del Lago) where we ate delicious pizza with the most amazing view anywhere (especially at sunset). The owners were very responsive and checked in several times to make sure we had everything we needed. We also loved that the pool was maintained during our stay and the garbage was collected. In the US, Umbria is considered a ‘hidden gem’ and I am so glad we found it! I would absolutely recommend this home and this friendly area of Italy to anyone looking for a relaxed and amazing vacation. My only recommendations for improvement: 1) fans in the bedrooms and 2) more water glasses - with 8 people we had to wash often.

Summary: We were warmly greeted at the house by the owner Claudio and he couldn't have been more hospitable! The house is incredibly clean with spacious bathrooms and bedrooms. We loved cooking in the well-equipped kitchen...with the Estate's own olive oil - the best we tasted in Italy! Thank you. The pizzas at Civitella del Lago were fantastic and the view from their terrace was spectacular, but what we loved the most was relaxing in the fabulous gardens and by the pool. Claudio also recommended visiting very close by Orvieto, Todi and The lake at Bolsena which we did, and strongly suggest you don't miss these beautiful towns. We completely ran out of time....so much to see and all so close. Would not hesitate to reccommend this glorious property and the service we received from Claudio, Angela and Charme holidays.

Summary: We spent 3 weeks with our 3 children in this great house in a very nice surrounding. First to mention is approaching the house: you will drive some 100 meters and this way is already part of the facilities. The olive grove you see on the pictures are belonging to the house, so as you might imagine it is quiet, nice and outstanding spacious. If your children are playing in the pool ... it's still quiet at the terrace. If you like walking, it sounds a bit strange, but for a short walk basically you could do it without leaving the property. The house: The owner is an architect, he loves proper details and you will see it everywhere. It's far over average in many aspects: Lots of nice rooms all a bit different, comfortable beds, oversize oven, lots of places to sit, all technical equipments (light, water, whatever ...) working and fine. So it is above lots of standards we have seen or rent before. You are not disturbed at all by somebody. The great view is mentioned in the house description ... yes! And you can find many places around the house to get this view. When we rent the house the pool on the photos looked a bit basic, as there had not been a platform. Good news: They build one before we arrived, so now even the pool is fine and the platform is potentially one of the nicest places to look over the olive trees to the Tiber. The owners have some hints and tips and I only can recommend following them. Again some comments on the house if you are now a bit closer to your positive decision: It is quite spacious and there is no "counted but 2nd class" room there at all. All rooms are very nice, have really comfortable beds and can be used and counted as full usable rooms. Getting there: You will have to drive some serpentines to get there ... it is typical for the whole area, and it is part of the nice location. Never seen any truck or lorry (even if it will not disturb you, the street is hundreds of meters away from the house). The advantage is that e.g. Civitella del Lago (the closest village) and many other villages or small town close to it are very very nice, have all great views and old centers. (In some of them you could set up medieval scenes). Touristic aspect: The location is some kilometers from Orvieto which by the way is worth a visit anyway in Umbria. Oh, end of max. text length ... I could proceed easily writing nice things about this house. Try it on your own ... it IS certainly nice!
