Positive: We arrived as guests and left as friends. It's rare to travel somewhere and leave missing the owners more than the place itself. We felt like in the glorious old days of Couchsurfing :) Dieneke and Jack are amazing hosts, caring, attentive, interesting and fun. Every day, we were happy to come home after a long journey of adventure and share a moment with them. The house is beautiful and spotless clean, with a big parking spot right in front. The kids also loved the outside area, the playground and the small pool, which are suitable for young children. It's amazing to think that they did everything in the house themselves! The rooms are large and comfortable, the neighborhood is quiet, and the location is really good (but you will need to have a car!), right between the sea and the gorgeous Serra de Aires, which we actively explored every day. History is right at your doorstep: the battlefield of the glorious Batalha de Aljubarrota is right nearby, as well as dinosaur footprints, gorgeous churches, viewpoints, tracking trails, monasteries, sleepy old villages... If you would rather go to the beach, the famous North Beach with the world's biggest waves is about 25 minutes away through a beautiful road of eucalyptus trees. We spent a week, but we could have spent a month. Our kids were really sad when we parted ways, but we will definitely come back.

Negative: There is nothing that I didn't like, but in order to avoid wrong expectations, please be aware that the apartment doesn't have a "full kitchen" (the pictures show it, just look at it), so you might miss a normal sized fridge and a dining table. It's also important to be aware that the internet in the area sucks (signal is too weak, no home office possible, even 5G fails sometimes). They are checking out some solutions though, so please ask them about it if this is really important to you.
