Positive: The location was perfect. We were able to walk across the soccer field to get to Chedraui in about 5 minutes. El Chef Cito (an inexpensive great little Mexican restaurant) was 1/2 block away, laundry facilities and Sunday morning carnitas were both 2 blocks north of us as well. The new local busses for 20 pesos per person worked great for us. It was exactly as pictured. The dining room was perfect for having friends for dinner and the dishes and wine glasses a really nice addition.

Negative: We took eye masks and ear plugs as was previously recommended and were pleased we did. It’s pretty quiet through week but weekends can be a little noisy till about 10:30-11:00. In all fairness we were there through the week of Valentine’s and again through Carnival. The bed was super comfortable but the couch was a little hard and needed the extra cushions from the dining chairs. By the time we arrived the stove had broken down and was gone - we had a 4 burner hot plate. Adrianna kindly offered to even bring her stove down to our apartment. We were absolutely fine working with the hot plate.

Positive: There is a lot of space, the apartment has everything you need. Warm shower. Very close to the biggest supermarket on the island. Adriana and her family are so nice.

Positive: The room was like the photos. It was newly renovated and only this unit (the bottom floor) is complete. Upper floors are still concrete blocks. With no signage, it was hard to find the place especially since it still looked like a construction site.

Negative: Unfortunately, there was black mold in multiple spots around the aircon and ceiling. The manager was accomadating with a refund and offered another available/comparable place as an alternative option but we ultimately did not stay and ended up booking elsewhere.

Summary: Did not stay due to mold. Accomadating manager.

Positive: Loved that Casa had a kitchen and living space and was close to a large grocery store. Good size and kitchen was well enough equipped for us to cook our meals in. The hosts were communicative and easy to get in touch with for the most part to help us with any issues that cropped up.

Negative: Location was a little further out then we realised (about a 40 minute walk to Playa Norte) but manageable as we’re happy to walk. We had Wifi issues for the first few days of our stay which was rectified on day 3 but was frustrating as we were doing some remote work (we were very grateful this got fixed as it seems a lot of effort was put into getting it working). As other reviews have mentioned - it’s an incredibly noisy place, the neighbours played music or were just generally noisy through the day and evening and we had kids knocking on our door on a couple occasions. Other things to mention was we experienced quite the ant problem, maybe due to the rain but they got into everything as well as having water leaking in the bedroom from the window as the one didn’t seal properly. But again we were there in a very wet week so this might not be everyone’s experience when it’s sunny and dry out.
