Travel Purpose: leisure

Positive: The host & hostess were exceptionally friendly. We visited in the January off-season and were the only guests. Host nevertheless made us feel like royalty. The host is a gourmet cook, and we ate superb, varied, local, delicious meals, varied each day. The hotel is high in the mountains, so chilly in winter. Rooms were warm, and we ate by a fire. Every day clouds rolled in with rain, even snow. But wait 1 hour, and the sun is out. Low traffic and population meant we felt part of the area. Hiking would be easier in non-winter, but surrounding villages offered such beautiful scenery and special characteristics. We loved our stay.

Negative: The host spoke Italian; We spoke English. Impossible? Not. With smatterings of many languages, translations on phones, smiles & gestures we communicated with ease. Our stay was delightful. I would come back in the spring to view the high numbers of migratory birds. Casale Cipriani is a special place.
