The ideal rural retreat. Character c1880 barn recently converted with large studio/living area above and modern kitchen and bathroom below. Situated on the historic Castlehill property overlooking Otaki racecourse and the Kapiti Coast. Alongside native bush that has been included by DOC on the Heritage Register as an area of significant indigenous vegetation. Sea views, glow-worms. Close to Otaki Forks. 2.5m from State Highway 1, and the wonderful outlets and shopping of Otaki. Remember this is a converted barn, 140 years old, with a mixture of the very old and the new, perhaps a little unconventional. If you are looking for a standard urban motel unit this may not be for you!. A must for those with appreciation of a rural lifestyle.

Summary: I took my children for a little holiday. Having booked Castlehill was great for us. We were able to settle down and enjoy the peace and homeliness that this converted barn provided. Lovely host and comfortable accomodation. Thank you so much for having us. We will be back.

Summary: Loved the location and check in was very simple. Very clean. The only let down was the bed and the blankets/pillows were old (but useable). The mattress was hard and thin. Did not make a pleasant night sleep unfortunately.

Summary: It was a cozy glorious cottage of stupendous beauty. Falling asleep to sheep and waking to cows in the paddock next to us. Everything you’d want in a small Otaki getaway that is close enough to bring hot pizza to the cottage but far away enough to get some peace and quiet ! The upstairs was amazing, 3 skylights that open out into the rural sky and allow you to seek the stars at night. A quaint lovers getaway that allowed us to feel like we had a little cottage on a farm.

Summary: We had a great time here. Great directions and easy check-in, tidy and well appointed. Enjoyed getting out in the quiet and fresh air but still 5 minutes away from town. Looking forward to staying again.
