Positive: From the moment we arrived at Châteaux de Fonscolombe, we were completely enchanted. The property itself is a dream – elegant, serene, and set amidst the most beautiful grounds that make you feel as though you’ve stepped into another world. Every corner of the estate reflects both charm and refinement, and it’s truly a delight just to stroll through the gardens and soak in the atmosphere. What truly sets this place apart, however, is the staff. Without exception, they were polite, professional, attentive, and wonderfully efficient – nothing was ever too much trouble. You really feel cared for here in a way that is both warm and genuine. A special mention must go to Laetitia at the front desk, whose warmth and gracious professionalism made us feel instantly at home. She went above and beyond to ensure our stay was seamless. Equally, the gentleman working in the bistro during the evenings deserves the highest praise. His attentiveness, kindness, and effortless way of anticipating what guests might need made dining a real pleasure. He, along with several other staff members – from housekeeping to the restaurant team – ensured that every interaction was a positive one. The combination of this stunning setting with such exceptional service makes Châteaux de Fonscolombe a true gem. It is not just a beautiful hotel, but a place where hospitality is elevated into an art form. We left feeling thoroughly cared for and already planning our return.

Positive: Property itself is a wonderful chateau, very picturesque with lots of greenery and beautiful grounds to walk around. Initial hosts were very welcoming, giving a tour and sharing a bit of its history so expectations were high. The Birmingham born bar man Thomas made some excellent cocktails, impeccable service and was a real highlight of our stay. Their burgers are excellent and unlike anything else I’ve tried, highly recommend. Pétanque in the woods, ponies and donkeys on the grounds made it an enjoyable start to the morning The lady by the spa was super helpful, whether it was booking taxis, making reservations or providing tips on places to go and things to do, she was top class!
Negative: Restaurant service was a joke for a 5 star place, examples include: - we ordered drinks and some water on our first night’s dinner, water never arrived but I’m sure we were charged - we tried to order coffees in the morning but apparently it’s not on the room service menu and nothing’s open before 7:30am. Would recommend opening for breakfast sooner or having the opportunity to order at least a coffee before 7:30am. No fridge in the room so can’t even keep milk in there to make the coffees yourself - we ordered coffees and some pastries, the pastries never arrived. We were charged for it but once we highlighted it, they removed the charge - service was very slow too, after having our mains we waited well over what seemed 20 minutes with no service and no dessert menu. We eventually headed inside to pay at the till - room wasn’t made it up till around 7pm on the 2nd day, we forgot to put the sign out initially so partly our fault but you’d think they’d check the room as we were out all day - the pool wasn’t anything special and very warm, felt like tepid water. We were told it was open 24hrs but it was a mission trying to open the gates in the dark and working out where the towels were Overall it was below expectations and there are better chateau’s or chalets out there

Positive: The Chateau is beautiful. The park surrounding the property is great and so inviting. It is a pleasure to walk around and discover the many chambers well decorated within the castle. It is really a lovely place.
Negative: We didn't like the restaurant. We picked the bistrot option as we were interested to follow the Roland Garros finale... and we were disappointed. The restaurant is extremely casual and staff, I believe not at all trained for such a high price setting. The service was rather messy... definitely not professional.
Summary: Absolutely beautiful stay in charming castle.

Positive: Beautiful and magical hotel, very kind and friendly staff, unique cuisine and a perfect dinner experience, comfortable beds, comfortable room, nothing to complain about.
Negative: It was a bit strange and a surprise to us that the hotel has an above-ground pool. But it's just a matter of taste and the pool will serve its purpose.
