Positive: The room space was fine, the surrounding areas were beautiful, quiet area, it's a short drive to Amboise.
Negative: The air conditioning in the room did not work well (it was not cool enough), cleanliness is not a strong characteristic of the overall property. The staff is not available 24hr a day, they work maybe 8 hrs a day and not continuously.

Positive: The property is magical. A large house built into the side of a hill, 12 rooms, expansive lawn, winding path to a private pool. It felt like we wandered onto an old family estate and we got it to ourselves. Very relaxing.
Negative: a welcome letter explaining how to make the most of the experience. There was minimal staff and it wasn't clear when/where to find them and what they needed to know from us. Something like, "there will be a person on duty from x-Y. Please let us know by X time that you plan to have breakfast and what time. May we suggest..."

Negative: We've stayed at this chateau twice now. This time we were there during a brutal heatwave and the lack of AC made our rooms very uncomfortable.
Summary: Nevertheless, this is a beautiful place.

Positive: The atmosphere is as good as expected, very quiet and refreshing, especially in the morning.
Negative: Because it is an old castle that is hundreds of years old, the facilities and age of use have changed with time. Some parts are quite dark, there are cobwebs in some places, the windows have pieces of stone in the frames that can break if opened too hard. Access to the hotel during the time I went was very difficult because a major road was closed, we had to take a detour, and the road before reaching the hotel had many potholes.

Positive: Beautiful old chateau in a lovely park setting. The chateau had beautiful grounds in the French countryside with trails for walking our dog. Our room was spacious with two rooms living room and bedroom with balconies overlooking the front garden and park. Modern bathroom. The chateau is only 10 mins from the charming French village of Amboise, with old half timber houses and great restaurant pedestrian street opposite the Amboise Chateau. It’s also close 20 mins to Chenonceau chateau my favorite and a hour drive to Chambord. We also rented bikes and saw other local chateaus.. The owner Olivier was an amazing host, really friendly and gave us tips on the area and history of the chateau. It felt like staying in a French country home! Olivier also provided restaurant recommendations and made reservations for us each night. We especially liked Chez Bruno in Amboise (casual) and Liberte (formal and really amazing 5 course French meal with inventive chef). The French breakfast was also great with croissants, cheese, ham, fruit, yoghurt, eggs etc. And the staff were super friendly and helpful! Totally recommend this amazing chateau!
