Summary: As full time travelers we have realistic expectations for a long stay at a property. Our host was extremely responsive to any needs, bed was comfy as was the couch, good WiFi, spacious apartment and large workable kitchen. The dishwasher, washing machine, microwave and oven were perfect. We even enjoyed the 85 stairs up to our secure place with lovely views. More Lyonnais food!! Now a few negatives. The apartment was cluttered and some minor changes would make you feel better, like unchipped dishes and things not crammed into corners. We realize this is old Lyon, but a bit of update would help. Overall, we enjoyed the apartment and would surely come back. I have seen other’s places in Vieux Lyon and this was luxury compared to theirs! Thanks, Jean Marie!

Summary: We loved staying in this sweet spot for 4 nights. Vieux Lyon is a great neighborhood, and this apartment worked perfectly for us- even during the heatwave that hit in June. We shut the curtains during the day while we were out, and opened everything up again in the evening. With the open windows & fans, we were able to sleep just fine. Our hosts were exceptional & we would absolutely stay here again!

Summary: I stayed here for 3 weeks, not knowing too much about Lyon and can say with certainty that the apartment location is EXCELLENT. Safe part of town, steps to all the attractions in Old Lyon, walk to concerts above at the ancient Roman amphitheater- really this place is heaven!! It it located in a quieter end of all the tourist spots so that sleeping is not disturbed. Women traveling alone, this is a recommended apartment from a safety standpoint- secure building in a safe location. Jean-Marie is a wonderful host and very attentive and communicative. He accommodated my delayed arrival and made me feel so welcome by providing a very sweet kitchen care package. The apartment is spacious and well laid out, especially considering the age of the building- it was full of charm. No elevator, I was happy to get my exercise in with the stairs, I left with great looking legs!! The kitchen is perfect for those who love to cook, it has everything you need. There’s a daily market that is super close across the river (Quai Saone) for incredible ingredients and my preferred bakery was St. Paul’s (after trying out all the bakeries in Old Town). If you are not much of a cook, you’ll find plenty of cafes and Buchons within walking distance. I read the other reviews for this apartment and they were all very helpful and honest about some things that could be a challenge, mainly the stairs. Also the apartment is very roomy for one or two, but I imagine any more would feel cramped. Now that I’ve gotten to know the city well, visited the city’s attractions, met many locals and made new friends in the area, I can say that this location facilitated a memorable experience I may have missed out on had it been anywhere else.

Summary: The property is a perfect launching pad for exploring Lyon with easy access to great restaurants, public transport, and a bridge for crossing the river. The space is in great shape with all the amenities to make it comfortable and feel like home. Not only is the house great, but Jean Marie was an excellent host who took time to give us some guidance about the city, and the ins and outs of the property. I would certainly recommend the home to fellow travelers.

Summary: Positives: Jean Marie was great! He met us, answered all our questions and was very helpful before, during and after the rental. The location is perfect. Laundry facilities work great. Negatives: This apartment is very worn. It could use a major cleaning and decluttering. No elevator for luggage although Jean Marie helped us. Despite the description there is not a functioning air conditioner. The little portable unit does little and has to be turned off at night or the neighbors complain!

Summary: Overall we really enjoyed our stay. Jean Marie was good at staying in communication with us prior to our arrival. He was also very welcoming when we arrived and helped us bring our luggage up the stairs. He gave us a nice overview of things to see in and outside the area. He suggested we visit a village called Pérouges, which was a wonderful suggestion! We loved it! Thank you Jean Marie! The apartment itself had everything we needed and was centrally located in the historic district of Lyon. You do have to go up a steep road to get to the apartment complex and then climb a few flights of stairs to get to the flat. But totally worth the climb. I just mention this for anybody that has a physical condition that it might make it more difficult coming and going. But it was fine for us and it was a good stay and Jean Marie was great!

Summary: We were very pleased with our stay. We were greeted by the owner and given a pleasant tour. The apartment is situated in old Lyon, packed full of history. From the traboules to the roman amphitheater atop the hill, you can lose yourself imagining who walked these cobble stone streets through the centuries.

Summary: Located in a quiet part of Old Lyon steps from a footbridge to the Presqu'ile. Incredible views and a ton of light. The only issues were that the initial cleanliness could be better, some the furnishings are showing their age and the kitchen needed a couple of things to be complete. Otherwise the perfect place to stay and get to know one of France's greatest cities!

Summary: Jean-Marie's apartment is perfect in so many ways: (1) Ideal location for exploring Lyon; (2) Even prettier and cozier than the pictures, and also very roomy; (3) The neighborhood is peaceful and yet extremely convenient to the pedestrian bridge, the metro and buses, many, many restaurants, cafes, bakeries, and markets; (4) All of the appliances were modern and worked well. Modern bathroom and good water pressure in the shower. The toilet is separate with its own door, which is convenient when several people are staying in the apartment. (5) By day the apartment is bright and cheery; by night quiet and peaceful. Jean-Marie was the perfect host. He met me at the door on my arrival and we enjoyed a cup of coffee together as we pored over the maps of Lyon that he'd marked up and laid out on the dining room table. He had stocked the apartment with the necessities, including an excellent bottle of wine that tided me over until I made it to the wonderful farmers market along the Quai several days later. I love to walk and I love walkable cities, so I fell in love with Lyon. I was in walking distance of the beautiful cathedrals of St. George and St. John, the Basilica of Fourviere, the Roman ruins, the shopping district of Place Bellecour, both the Saone and the Rhone rivers via the many bridges, and hundreds of restaurants and cafes. Sadly, the coronavirus cut short my visit from one month to only two weeks, but I will be back!
