When you are ready to explore a little further, head out of the gate and the hidden gem of Spilstead Barn is reached by a glorious half mile walk. Stroll past the paddocks on a tree-lined avenue, along the old vineyard which meets the open fields, and you will find the beautiful, secluded private lake. With a picnic table and small rowing boat awaiting, you can dip your toes in the water, enjoy a spot of fishing or even take a leisurely swim around the island.

Summary: A lovely place to stay, a good location and very peaceful. Very comfortable, well equipped and extremely clean. A nice welcome pack too - thank you. It was a good situation for exploring the area, with plenty to see and do. Due to the pandemic we didn't investigate local pubs which was a shame as they all looked inviting. Summary: Lovely cottage in a stunning location with very welcoming hosts. Just what we wanted for our break this year. The local area is very dog friendly and we visited a few castles and Battle Abbey (albeit just outside because of covid this year). The Queens Head is a fantastic local dog friendly pub where we enjoyed a meal. Hastings is close by, with an old town area well worth exploring. Lots of great walks including our daily morning trek to the lake! With the good weather we had, the whole holiday was perfect. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Summary: Lovely stay, very relaxing and our dog loved It so,much! Probably the only thing to mention though not really a criticism is that four adults may find the comfy evening seating not adequate. Loved the lake! Bring rods! Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Summary: This is a wonderful place to stay. Well equipped down to the finest details and is outstandingly clean. The photos don’t do the property justice on how spacious and modern it is. The two bathrooms are an added bonus. The owners are warm and friendly and leave lovely welcome treats. The grounds are stunning and the walk to the private boating lake is breathtaking. We will definitely visit again. Outstanding! Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Summary: This holiday cottage is fantastic! Downstairs is small but so well-designed that you have everything you could possibly need, and the upstairs is spacious, calm and comfortable. But the real joy of Spilstead Barn is outside - a pretty, fully-enclosed garden leads on to acres of beautiful land which guests are free to roam. The horses stables are just feet from the front door, and my daughters were encouraged to spend time grooming them. A short walk through peaceful fields leads to a small lake with rowing boat, where we saw herons, frogs, foxes and much more. If you love nature and the outdoors, this is the holiday home for you! To top it off, owners Ronni and Roger could not have been more friendly and helpful. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Summary: Absolutely picturesque place with lots to do in surrounding areas. Had a beautiful time and lots to investigate at the barn itself. Great with kids and pets. Owners are brilliant and friendly and made us feel very welcome. (Added bonus they were from where we currently live so lots to talk about). Would recommend this to anyone, the boat is lots of fun Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Summary: We loved staying at this property. It had everything we needed and was close to so many attractions. We went into Hastings one day, Camber Sands another day and took advantage of the little boat on the lake at the property another day. We also enjoyed a couple of dinners outside, overlooking the beautiful gardens. The hosts were lovely and the bottle of fizz and fruit cake were a welcome treat. Thank you to Roger and Ronni for their hospitality. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Summary: It had a quiet and restful country location with extensive grounds to explore and handily placed for all the sites we wished to visit, mainly gardens and National Trust properties. It was close to Battle for shopping and near the coast.

Summary: We had a wonderful week's stay at Spilstead Barn over the August bank holiday with our 3 young boys. A travel cot and high chair were provided which was great. We found the cottage spotlessly clean and it had everything we needed. We loved eating dinner in the garden, overlooking the fields. The owners were welcoming and my son loved that he got to stroke the horse! We enjoyed going out in the rowing boat on the lake and even had a swim as it was so hot! Lots of family friendly places to visit nearby. We will definitely recommend to family and friends.

Summary: We had a great week at Spilstead barn. The accommodation was beautifully prepared. If there was a criticism it was that there is not enough comfortable seating in the living room for 4 adults and we were a bit on top of each other.
