Our maison-de-village is situated below the medieval castle which crowns the village. It has great character, is comfortable and fully equipped. It has thick stone walls with wooden shuttered windows and is very light filled. There are two good sized bedrooms. The double bed room has an ensuite bathroom with shower , toilet and washing machine. The twin bedroom has a walk in shower and basin which is open plan and there is a room divider for those who would prefer a little extra privacy. The second toilet is under the stairs. There is climatasion/ air conditioning downstairs and in the double bedroom. There is a dining room and small but well equipped kitchen.
The terraces and vault are stone walled with the lower terrace and vault offering shade and lovely areas to eat meals at every part of the day and to relax. The top terrace has wonderful views across the valley and surrounding mountains and the sunsets from here are beautiful and can be enjoyed over a glass of good French wine. The nearby village square has a Tabac(cafe),which apart from the usual cafe wares it also sells croissants and baguettes, and more. There is also a chemist and good restaurant just off the square and a Pizzeria. Lovely L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, the ‘antique capital’ of France, is just 5kms away and has banks, supermarkets, a wonderful Sunday market, a great number of very good restaurants in lovely settings along the canals and in the winding streets, a tourist centre and all you may need. You can take daily excursions or take wonderful walks directly from the village into the surrounding area and along the canal to the aqueduct and Fontaine de Vaucluse. Horse riding, golf, fishing, swimming, tennis, are all nearby and easily accessible.

Summary: Beautiful property in a lovely, peaceful village. Well equipped and very good info in the owner’s notes. No dedicated parking but plenty of spaces close by even at the height of the busy August season. Excellent boulangerie and restaurant in the village too. Lagnes was a welcome respite from many of the other local, beautiful villages that tend to get overrun by crowds and cars after 9.30. Top terrace has outstanding views in the evenings.

Summary: This property is amazing! The village is very quiet which was great for us after busy days of exploring. The house was clean and had what we needed. The bed was comfortable and there was plenty of space. The part we loved the most was the terrace space. The upper terrace was perfect for sitting in the sun and the ‘cave’ was great for escaping the heat of the day. We would go back to this property in a heartbeat! Penelope was easily reached by email and very helpful

Summary: We had a lovely time in France with our base at this fabulous home in Lagnes. It is within driving distance to the lavender & sunflower fields of Provence, also Gordes, Avignon, Arles, Aix en Provence and much more. The village of Lagnes is quiet and friendly with everything you'll need, and the home is darling cute, with all the needed amenities and more (the Air Con/climatization was amazing for our mid-summer trip)! Penelope has left a remarkable guide to everything in the house that address your every need. (except the Cricket match but that doesn't count!! :) I highly recommend this lovely home in the hills.

Summary: We felt lucky to be able to stay in this wonderful cottage. It really couldn't have been better. We loved the location in the tiny medieval village of Lagnes. It was quiet and peaceful, but close enough to Isle sur la Sorgue to have a good selection of restaurants and shops. The house itself was comfortable and thoughtfully laid out.. The terrace was a great place to watch the sun set over the fields below. We miss it already.

Summary: We loved our stay in Penelope’s home! The small town of Lagnes was nice to be in for its peace and lack of tourists. Yet it was charming and nice to walk around and up onto the hill above it for pretty sunset views above the rooftops. We dined at the restaurant in town and also the pizzeria, both of which are great. The home itself is cheerful and inviting. The color schemes were so lovely and the decor embraced the local charm. The beds and pillows were comfortable and we all slept well. We especially loved the terraces. The home is central to many towns and fun things to see. A good grocery store is ten minutes away in L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue. There’s also an ATM at this grocery store too. Most towns we saw were between 10 and 30 minutes away. Our favorite was Gordes. We would highly recommend this home and host to others and enjoyed our stay! *A helpful tip for your arrival would be to put the restaurant Auberge de Lagnes into your GPS. There is a parking lot across the street from it that always had parking. It’s not too far to the house from there and this way you avoid any extreme narrow roads or confusion when parking.

Summary: We have had a lovely stay at this property in Lagnes. The property itself was lovely and Penelope was extremely helpful with answering questions about the property and local area. It is apparent that Penelope takes pride in the property keeping it clean and nicely presented, which makes for a lovely stay. Its location is on a very quiet and small pedestrian alley. We always found parking by the Chateau. The terrace gardens are very relaxing and we especially enjoyed the upper terrace which has superb views of the surrounding area over the property's rooftop. You get lovely sunsets and can watch the swifts darting about in the evenings, which helps with unwinding. The rest of the property is lovely and nicely decorated so it feels traditional without feeling old or dated. It is also well equipped and stocked for your stay. There is ample space and amenities for four people though we were a couple so enjoyed the extra room. The area is fab. We hired bikes one day and explored a large number of the nearby villages using the European Union veloroute 8 (an old railway cycle route) and then fairly quiet D roads (also signposted cycle routes). Kayaking on the sorgue was easy to arrange and a great way to see the river. The signposted walks throughout the area also allow you to visit the nearby areas on foot through the valleys and hills. We did walks directly from Lagnes to Fontaine and Cabrieres d'avignon and then also drove to the latter another day and walked to Gordes The village location is ideal for visiting the Luberon area and just a short drive from L'isle Sur La Sorgue. I would recommend staying in a quieter village over L'isle, though it may not suit if you prefer somewhere lively. Although it is a short drive to a supermarket the local shop has bread and croissants and being able to escape the busyness of L'isle was nice. We also had a great meal at the nearby restaurant l'auberge so you can still have some drinks and walk home. All in all I would definitely recommend this property.
