3 Bedroom House in Eyemouth, Berwickshire

We have owned Hallydown Cottage for 30 years . It is our home from home in Scotland. Unfortunately, we go less frequently now.
In 2010 we completely modernised the cottage, building a two storey extension to provide modern luxury accommodation while maintaining the cosy atmosphere of a country cottage.
Hallydown Cottage is spacious, beautifully furnished and with glorious views over open countryside and farmland to the cliffs and the North Sea. The cottage has three bedrooms, a family bathroom, a wet room and cloakroom.
The ground level is open plan with a large lounge area, with a wood-burning stove, large flat screen TV and a modern kitchen with a double oven rangemaster. WIFI is fully available.
The secure garden includes a small summerhouse which is a delightful place to relax in. There is a patio with garden furniture where you can take in the view whilst enjoying a barbecue . The borders have an abundance of herbaceous flowers through spring to autumn.
There is parking for 2 cars.
Above all, perhaps I should ask prospective visitors not to believe the mantra that Scotland is cold, windy and wet - not in the SE, it isn't, this area has more sunshine and less rain than the SE of England!

Summary: We really enjoyed our stay at 5 Hallydown cottages, the views from the cottage are stunning and the cottage is beautifully decorated with plenty of space and was very well equipped for all our needs. The location is great being just a short drive from the beautiful beach at Coldingham Bay and the towns of Eyemouth and St Abbs. There is plenty of things at Eyemouth to keep the kids happy and including a lovely beach, rock pools, seals in the harbour and amazing ice creams! The only minor negative I have is that the photos of the outside of the property are slightly misleading- I didn’t realise this is where it we’d be parking our cars and with 2 cars parked there wasn’t really much outside space for the kids to play in. I do agree with other reviewers saying parking is tight in that there wasn’t a lot of room to manoeuvre- the second car couldn’t get out without the first car moving out first, so if we had wanted to do things independently it may have been a struggle.

Summary: From booking to check in and communication with the owner .. nothing can be faulted. I can’t speak highly enough of the cottage. The location is stunning with views that are so beautiful, the location is so peaceful. The cottage is everything described in the listing and more. Well equipped, immaculately clean and furnished and finished to a really high standard. The comments on the driveway from previous reviews did worry me a little but we had no problems and I have a 7 seater people carrier, it’s a little tight but nothing that should put anyone off booking. I can only describe the cottage as absolutely perfect. From booking to checking out everything was faultless. The only negative for me was having to leave… believe me when I say I didn’t want to leave. I would highly recommend the cottage.. my compliments to the owner for such a wonderful place and the chance to share it.

Summary: Very well equipped clean cottage, with beautiful views. The accommodation was very homely, and comfortable. The cottage is located about 2 miles outside Eyemouth in a peaceful location, great for a relaxing stay with a coastal path just behind the cottage that leads to Eyemouth in one direction and Coldingham in the other. Would recommend if you want a chilled break.

Summary: We loved our visit. Views are incredible. The house is so well appointed I can’t think of anything that was missing. Really quality … and little touches like plenty of logs and coal plus kindling and matches…we only needed these for first couple of days!. The Borders area is spectacular - and you can access it via the Coastal Path just a few minutes from the house. Thanks Brenda for a wonderful stay. If you are looking for a rural retreat near the sea…. You won’t do better.
