Summary: VRBO There were so many issues at this rental that we left one night early and let the owner know. It would be nice if we could get one night back since we were out and notified the owner before checkout on Thursday. From the beginning of booking, it was not disclosed until after everything was not refundable that we would have to purchase a $99 insurance policy for the rental and having to print out and sign a rental agreement. When we arrived at the house, it was not as advertised. The oven doors come open while you’re trying to cook your food. When we turned one of the ovens on to preheat it, it started smoking and when we tried to use the vent hood for ventilation, it was broken. There was no ice as the ice maker did not work and there was no ice provided in the freezer in a town without even a convenience store. Lamps everywhere throughout the rental wouldn’t work. The back door was so creaky that it woke everyone in the house up when you went to let the dog out in the mornings. The house is also so unlevel that everyone in the house experienced dizziness in many parts of the home. The beds were so hard that none of us got a good night’s rest. There was a stain in the master bedroom carpet when we arrived. The upstairs neighbor was up at all hours of the night doing who knows what making a huge racket so loud it woke all of us up. It was very suspicious behavior and we questioned if he was making illegal substances up there in the night given all his unloading of jugs of things all through the night and going in and out of the upstairs apartment repeatedly in an abnormal fashion that puzzled all three people in our party. We were accused by the host of leaving our dogs unattended for hours and getting complaints about barking. This is a bold faced lie. We have proof via time and date stamped pictures that we took our dogs everywhere with us with the exception of about 20 minutes when we walked to the cafe to get lunch. Upon our return we received the accusatory message from the owner and discovered that someone had thrown a water bottle into the backyard at our dogs. One of these is a service animal for a disability. If he is abused by having things thrown at him, it could hinder his ability to perform his duties and could result in him having to be retired as a service animal, which would be extremely costly and unfortunate. The reason the service animal was left during that brief time was because of aggressive loose dogs.
