Social distancing is never a problem in Downeast, Maine.
Our cottage is located in Jonesport, a small fishing village off Route
187 which is situated between Sandy River and Popplestone Beaches; it is
directly on the ocean in one of the most scenic locations in Downeast.
The cottage is slightly elevated above the shore and faces east
overlooking Chandler Bay. There are spectacular sunrises for early
birds, and sunsets that turn the ocean iridescent, while setting the offshore
islands aflame. Our property sits above rugged granite ledges, but a sandy beach is within walking distance.
Spectacular views can be seen from inside the cottage, while outside the sights and sounds of the ocean will surround you. The wild flowers and gardens on the property are constantly visited by humming birds.

Summary: This property was exactly as described. There were adequate stores for supplies and we were able to find delicious seafood relatively nearby. The view from the cottage both from inside and on the deck was absolutely breathtaking. You cannot get enough of it. Great internet connection for those who just can’t get away from it all. We took short trips to nearby villages for lobster and a wonderful day trip to Campobello Island. It was the perfect spot if you’re looking for a relaxing peaceful vacation.

Summary: This is our 3rd year here and it did not disappoint! The setting cannot be beat, and the cottage is just right for us. The day we arrived, eagles and ospreys were soaring and seals were corraling fish just below - what more could we ask for?!

Summary: The house, a stone's throw from the ocean, offered views of several islands, bald eagles, cormorants, and Eider ducks, a nearby sand beach, and privacy thanks to nice landscaping. It is a wonderful place to relax, venture out to nearby trails, or even day trip to Campobello Island, summer home of Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt. Doug, the owner was incredibly responsive, and we met our friendly neighbors in the next cottage, sharing wine and cheese and a dinner. A superbly well-equipped cottage!

Summary: The cottage was clean and comfortable. The sound of the ocean could be heard from just about anywhere inside. The New England weather was the only issue... there was rain and fog for 11 of the 14 days. This was unusual summertime weather and should not stop anyone from visiting. I was only able to view the sunrise on 1 day but this would be the place to be if the weather had cooperated. Absolutely breathtaking! There's plenty of beach to walk on, tidal pools to explore and even some sea glass to be found. At low tide you can even walk out to a small island. It's those simple things that I was looking for and that's what I got. If the weather had cooperated, I'm sure this would have been the vacation of a lifetime. I'd recommend this rental for 1 or 2 people.

Summary: Cabin was exactly as specified. Very clean and you have everything you need. We enjoyed views from the deck, the sound of the boats and our daily walk out to the island at low tides. Although it was not a problem for us, bathroom could be a challenge to larger individuals. Being close to the road, you hear the cars and trucks go by, and you are close to the other cabin. Overall, a great little cabin for our 4 night stay. It was also easy to communicate with the owner, Doug. Thank you.

Summary: My husband and I stayed a week in this charming cottage. The views are amazing! We had fresh lobster straight off the docks in Jonesport. So good! There is some great hiking here and people are friendly and helpful. Not too many restaurant options, but Jonesport Pizza was really good. We had a great week.

Summary: This cottage is perfectly situated for watching seals, ospreys, eagles, enjoying the refreshing ocean breeze and allowing yourself to relax. Sandy Beach just down the street is indeed sandy and when the tide is low you are able to walk out to Bar Island to explore and beach comb. Also within easy driving distance is Campobello, Bar Harbor, Eastport; the list goes on! We may make this an annual treat for ourselves!
