Summary: This was our third stay at Larry’s home and it never disappoints! Get location and Larry and the caretaker (Manfred) went out of their way to Make us comfortable. Note: there is now a relatively new “resort” club house next door now. However we were there 8 days and only saw a gardener there the whole time (I.e. doesn’t seem like they are getting business). Nice having the palapas next door ( we didn’t use them but they are there). Larry’s home is somewhat older than othets around but it’s clean, very comfortable and has everything you need!

Summary: We stayed for 1 week in November, and enjoyed it very much. There had been some recent upgrades (new deck, refrigerator, washer and dryer etc). The A/C worked great and kept us cool at night, the deck was breezy and comfortable during the day. The blender held up for our daily doses of smoothies and Pina Coladas (very important!) Overall the house was great for our family of 4, with the kids sharing the small bedroom and my husband and I in the master bedroom (comfortable king-sized bed). Nice large kitchen for cooking meals will help you spend less on food. The owner was very helpful throughout booking process, and arranged a car for our stay for $60/day (cheaper than the going rate on the island). Manford picked us up at the airport and was very helpful in answering our endless questions of where to go, how to get there, and how to catch land crabs. One thing that I either overlooked or somehow didn't realize before we came is how close the house is to the Fountain Bay Clubhouse. It isn't shown in the pictures, but it is literally 20 feet from the side of the house. That being said, I think we only saw about 6 people use it the entire week we were there (that could have just been because we were there in the off-time), and we did go over and order a few drinks/appetizers once, so depending on your outlook it could be a good thing. The bay out front is very shallow at low tide (great for the kids), but deep enough for swimming at high tide. There are a couple of nice snorkelling spots if you head out to the two rocks at the right hand end of the bay (it's a ways out but you can walk waist deep most of the way). One more thing you may want to consider: It wasn't a problem for us because we love dogs, but the owners of Fountain Bay have about 6 or 7 dogs that run free around the property. They are not all initially very friendly and will bark, but we earned the trust of a few of them and one dog in particular spent most days hanging out on our deck with the kids. If you are not a dog person, you may want to contact the owner and ask if it is possible to have the dogs contained during your stay. Overall, we loved our first visit to Cat Island, the people are very friendly and it is definitely a great chance to enjoy some quiet time! Bring lots of bug spray (or use Baby Oil), be prepared for high food prices (and check expiry dates on food from stores), visit Da Pink Chicken, but mostly enjoy the experience!

Summary: My overall impression of the Beach house is that the Floor plan is amazing! Grand in size, open floor plan with plenty of seating for a large group. The location was perfect in my opinion. The house is minutes from the New Bight Airport and Market/ grocery store. The house is right next to the Fountain Bay Restaurant and bar, close to places of interest like The Hermitage, Fernandez Bay and Hawks Nest. Last but not lease the house is situated on the beautiful Caribbean side of the ocean where the seas are calm and the beach is pristine, secluded and full of beauty. The stars gazing is second to none. That being said, the house is in desperate need of some TLC. The deck, dishwasher, washing machine, Microwave and sink faucet are in dire straits. The deck in particular is unsafe and I highly discourage kids to step foot on it. There are missing deck boards that a child could easy fall through. The washing machine is unusable like the dish washer and the house could use a deep clean. All in all, I’m glad I didn’t know about the deck falling apart, or the drywall coming off the wall, the broken dishwasher and broken clothes washer, because had I known, I would have passed on this amazing location, floor plan and beach. It is the perfect spot!

Summary: Wonderful rental property with very comfortable furniture and beds, up to date modern appliances, walk-in showers, nice baths, fully equipped kitchen and huge wrap-around deck with commanding views. Located on a quiet secluded beautiful shallow beach that is perfect for walks, swimming and exploring--turtles, rays, lobsters, different types of fish and other sea life can all be found at this location . Nearby flats and creek systems offer outstanding fishing opportunities. Close to best markets on the island in New Bight and Smith Bay. Great central island location is perfect for exploring other beautiful beaches such as Old Bight, Greenwood, the south beaches and other beaches to the north and Atlantic side. For exploring, a rental car is a must have. Be sure to check out the Saturday night fish fry and all the great casual restaurants at that location. The people of Cat Island (and the other out islands) are the friendliest on earth! Larry provided great communication to us and our stay at this location was perfect. We have been to a number of out islands and Cat Island and this rental are among the very best of our experiences. Thank you much, Larry and we will be back! -Kevin and Kelly (Seattle, Washington)

Summary: 4 of us stayed in this house for two weeks and I can't fault it, it is in a really nice location right on the beach and more or less in the middle of the island which is great for touring. The house is exactly as described and great value for money. You can paddle up the creek and fish from the kayaks, there were rays and the odd little shark along with turtles swimming in the bay when we were there.The wifi was down due to a lightning strike but it's to be repaired next week. The water went off due to a storm one night but one phone call to the owner and a man called Junior was there and had it up and running.I would stay there again, it's a beautiful island, very quiet with very friendly locals, we loved the place. We have been to Eluthera but we preferred cat island as its so quiet. Larry the owner also sorted out car rental for us which was waiting at the airport on our arrival. 10/10+

Summary: Cat island Cat island is not for everyone, but if you desire down time, nothing says relax like the almost deserted beaches with turquoise blue waters of Cat Island. It's definitely a recharge-your-batteries sort of place. My husband and I have vacationed in Cat Island for the past 6 years and plan to continue for the rest of our days. We have stayed in both the North and South end and last year we discovered Larry and Yvette's (they are awesome). Simply put, I can not recommend this home enough. With two bedrooms, two baths, large living room area, full kitchen, washer/dryer, wifi, wrap around balcony overlooking a breathtaking beach......it's the ideal accommodation at a reasonable price. Additionally, the location couldn't be more convenient since it is only miles from the New Bight Airport and Gilbert's market/car rental. REMINDER, Cat Island and this property is all about peace and relaxation. There are NO movie theaters, golf courses, fast food restaurants, Walmart Super centers......if this is your cup of tea, you should look elsewhere. Otherwise consider Cat Island, it's sun believable!
