Green Farm is a historic lakefront mansion with a private dock located in Lakewood, NY on the shores of Chautauqua Lake. This nearly 10,000 square foot 8 bedroom home was built by millionaire banking and tobacco heir Paul Sorg in 1906. It has been lovingly renovated while keeping its historic character. Every room has unique features that could never be recreated today, featuring hand-carved moldings depicting characters from Geoffrey Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales, the original ice chest and a stunning bridal staircase. Green Farm was the personal home of Sorg and his wife until her death in 1929, it was then converted to an exclusive tea room that even remained operational during World War II. Summary: Our family of 19 loved this spacious Chautauqua lake house. It was perfect for our 5-night family vacation! Plenty of seating, lounging, and dining space. The highlight was the great rooms with lake views – perfect for morning coffee and our nightly family dinners. The location was ideal – playground and lake access across the street, plus walkable restaurants. Lakewood was a great base for exploring the region. With 8 bedrooms, this house comfortably fit our large group. Highly recommend!

Summary: Even though we all live within a short drive—this gave us an opportunity to vacation with each other. This property was perfect for us with all the amenities it offers and with the availability of the host, all questions were quickly answered. Thank you for sharing your beautiful house with us!!

Summary: First off I’d like to say this house exceeded all our expectations. This beautiful home deserves its five star rating. The owner was so easy to deal with and responded immediately with any questions we had. His service was top-notch! This historic home is very well maintained and impeccably clean. To say it’s huge is an understatement we had a party of 19 but the House offers many cozy areas to relax by yourself, play games with the kids, work on a puzzle, or play ping-pong in the game room The bedrooms are all well appointed with comfortable beds and linens. All The bedrooms had attached bathrooms with two extra powder rooms on the first floor We spent much our time out on the beautiful front patio that overlooks a park and the lake We were even able to rent a boat for the day. The town of Lakewood is very quaint with a couple of nice restaurants and some good shopping. All in all, this was a wonderful place for our family reunion and we are hoping to be back again next year

Summary: This home is incredible! We had a large age range of family members and it suited us perfectly. The history of the house is incredible and it is very well maintained and clean considering the historic age of the home. The kitchen was great with plenty of space as was the living area. Plenty of bedrooms and all were large in size and most have a bathroom in every room. Tim the owner was extremely responsive before our trip but nothing at all was needed during our stay. I’m sure if it was needed we would have received an immediate response. We only fished off the dock and while the water is across the street and park, the kids actually got most use out of the fantastic playground. This home is one of a kind.

Summary: We had a wonderful weekend at this mansion! Absolutely stunning inside...love the space and layout of the house. Lots of space to spread out as well as space to come together for large group activities. Owner was quick to respond to communication/questions and to make things right when there was an issue. The private dock was very challenging to get to when bringing our kayaks (no easy access) and I wouldn't consider this house to be lakefront since there is a road and a large park between the house and the water. Some of us enjoyed that the house was in town and could walk to shops (coffee, books, etc). Overall we had a great weekend getaway and would totally come again! Thank you!
