Bidford-on-Avon Cottage | Cider House at Oosland Barns - sleeps 4 guests in 2 bedrooms

2 Bedroom Cottage in Bidford-on-Avon

The Cider House is a red brick barn that has recently been converted from a grain store into a cosy and comfortable, sleeps-4 holiday home that sits alongside the Combine Shed, another Oosland Barns holiday let. The cottage is set in a gravel courtyard at the centre of a working arable farm, just half a mile from the River Avon and the pretty village of Bidford-upon-Avon.
The barns and the fields around the Cider House were purchased by the owner's family in the 1960s. In the 1980s the barns became grain stores, and the courtyard in front of the cottage was covered over with large steel bins for extra grain storage. In 2012, the grain barns were converted, and the grain store was taken down, and the full conversion to Oosland Barns Holiday Lets was completed in 2015.
Inside, the cottage is decorated in a neutral, country-cottage style and comfortably accommodates four guests, with a very spacious and welcoming open-plan kitchen-dining-living area with a log burner and two bedrooms (one double, one twin) and a family bathroom – all on one floor so ideal for guests with limited mobility. (Please note, that there are two steps up to the front door).

At the far end of this room is the Living Area, with two large leather-effect sofas, a coffee table, smart TV, a desk for guests on a workation, a bookcase storing games, maps, and books, and a lovely woodburner, which will be set ready for you to light on arrival. A door leads out from the Living Area to the garden and patio.
Bedroom 1:
The pretty main bedroom in the Cider House looks out over the rear garden and has a high ceiling with exposed beams. The bedroom is decorated with accents of pink and is furnished with a standard double bed with bedside tables and reading lamps, a wardrobe, and a chest of drawers.

Summary: Enjoyed our short break at the Cider Barn Lovely hot tub! Great Location! Great enclosed garden, which our Basset hound fully enjoyed playing in. Ideal for my elderly mother with mobility issues, being all on one level. Only a few issues, shame no milk, when we arrived as there was tea, coffee, sugar provided. I did find the mattress on the Double Bed quite uncomfortable, a King Size bed would have been nicer. Also being on a farm the road down to the barn was full of large pot holes which you have to try and navigate around! Overall we all did have a very relaxing stay.

Summary: Really nice little cottage, located within easy reach of the cotswolds. House was clean, tidy and very well equipped. We did find an ear plug on the floor of the bedroom though but it was no problem. The house was excellent with a dog, and had plenty of outdoor space for him to run around, and he was a huge fan of the logburner! Hot tub was really nice and enjoyable aswell. All in all a great place to stay, and would go again.

Summary: Cider House was exactly what we needed to explore Stratford Upon Avon, just a short drive away. The house was clean, comfortable and fully equipped. We loved using the hot tub and were grateful for the flip flops, towels and dressing gowns provided. The owners left us to enjoy our selves and there was no need to contact them as the provided information was detailed. Would love to stay here again sometime.

Summary: We booked the Cider House very last minute for a short chillout break before Christmas, The house was clean and tidy and had all the utensils and appliances needed for a self catering stay. The TV was actually larger than shown in the website pictures and is a smart TV complete with streaming apps. The hot tub was great to sit in and gaze at the stars each evening and then back to sit in front of the log burner which provided a warm and cosy atmosphere to relax on the comfortable settees. The main bedroom has plenty of storage and a good size double bed. We found the mattress to be a bit too firm for us, but this is just our preference and we still slept ok. The location of Cider house is great for walks, a pavement along the road gives good access to Bidford village, about a10 minute walk. From there we did a 4 mile circular walk along part of the river Avon and around the edge of the horse gallops, some good views from up there. We would have given full marks but a couple of small things that could be improved on, there were no matches or lighter for the log burner, the TV remote batteries were flat and a bulb blown in the bedside lamp. But overall we had a comfortable and enjoyable stay at Cider house.

Summary: We had a lovely stay in this property, it has everything needed for a relaxing break. We made the most of the hot tub even in November, and the log burner was great to keep us warm and cosy in the evenings. The provision of towelling robes, extra towels and flip flops when using the hot tub was really appreciated. The location is great for exploring the north of the Cotswolds and Stratford on Avon. The nearest village at Bidford on Avon has a lovely cafe in the centre and walks along the river Avon.
