The White House at Brinsop is a grade II listed farmhouse dating from 15th century that retains many of its original features. The attached stone and timber framed former cider house has been sensitively converted into two charming self catering holiday cottages that combine traditional architecture with modern, comfortable accommodation. The properties are available individually or can be let together (see separate listing for Dee's Cottage no 453406). Dee's Cottage is wheelchair friendly.
The Cider Press is reached via an external stone staircase. Sleeping up to 3 persons, its well designed accommodation has a secure and cosy feel due to the original oak timbers that are visible in every room. The cottage is centrally heated and furnished sympathetically and traditionally, yet well equipped with flat screen TV/DVD player, games, books, and a wide selection of maps and DVDs. Egyptian cotton bedding and fluffy towels and toiletries are provided.
Immediately outside the property there is an enclosed, lawned garden facing west, ideal for catching the evening sun and just behind the property is a patio that leads to the ancient fish pool. There is a separate outbuilding that is locked each night and walking or cycling equipment may be stored here.
Situated along a quite lane in the beautiful Brinsop valley, the property overlooks the Iron Age hill fort of Credenhill to the east, and the Black Mountains to the west - yet is an easy two minute walk from the hourly bus service from mid Wales into Hereford. White House is surrounded by large and accessible grounds that incorporate lawned areas, a pony paddock and a medieval fishpond that extends to nearly an acre. Seats and benches are carefully placed around to take advantage of the views and they make the perfect place to appreciate and enjoy, water, wildlife and the odd glass of wine!
The lanes and footpaths around are great for walking and cycling and Hereford, Hay-on-Wye, the Black Mountains, Leominster, the Black and White villages trail and Ludlow are all within easy reach.

Summary: We had a very warm welcome from Tim Stiles and found the Cider Press to be a very homely holiday accommodation. From the cake to the bread which he provided to all the local information it could not have been better and the location was in an ideal spot for travelling around Herefordshire and the surrounding area. A very comfortable stay.

Summary: Just a little out of Hereford town and in the country. The Cider Press is compact, but offers really comfortable accommodation and is absolutely gorgeous. Wonderful countryside and stunning gardens make this a must for any future visit to the area. A big thank you to Abby and Tim for making us feel at home, especially the cake awaiting our arrival! The only down side was leaving!!!!!!!!!!!!

Summary: I almost hesitate to write such a glowing report! After all, if too many people get to know just how good it is, there might not be any availability for us to return! The cider press is in a beautiful setting, and is equipped with everything that you need for your stay. That in itself makes it pretty damn perfect. But what makes it special, is that there are extra touches and gestures of personality, character and thoughtfulness that make you so welcome and you're stay so enjoyable. There are prettily arranged flowers, delicious homemade Lemon drizzle cake, a freshly baked loaf and the fridge is stocked with butter, milk , eggs and marmalade. And then you have Abby and Tim who really are such fantastic hosts. They have built a wondeful home which you feel you are part of and are welcomed to , but there is also an perfect blend and balance of friendliness and privacy. Really can't wait to go back!

Summary: We were warmly welcomed by Tim and Abby. The Cider Press was perfect in every way - decor, linen, matching crockery and glasses, plentiful hot water and warmth. We appreciated the 'Welcome pack' - Abby's lemon cake was delicious! Bonuses were the glorious views of the pond and the house martins nesting under the eaves. Our hosts were on hand if we needed any information about local beauty spots, walks or places to eat. We would certainly recommend this cottage to friends.
