6 Bedroom Cottage in Chaveignes

Angulus Ridet (Latin; "This corner of the earth makes me happy") is a beautifully refurbished collection of boutique farmhouse cottages set around a central courtyard. Ideal for a large family / groups of couples where people can get together at the same venue but have independent accommodation each with their own entrances, fully fitted shower rooms and living rooms / kitchen diners.
There are 4 king size double bedrooms (2 with en-suite shower rooms) and 1 twin bedroom (which can be made up as a king size double). There are 2 family shower rooms. There is an additional studio with a single bed on the ground floor. The studio also has an en-suite shower room.
Two of the cottages also have a double sofa-bed increasing capacity to a maximum of 15 people. One cottage has a wood burning stove making it a really cosy place to curl up and relax out of-season. Cottages have heaters in all rooms. Bed linen and towels are included in the price.
There are two covered verandas for outdoor dining, one in the courtyard and one in the south facing garden. There are also several areas (pergola, patio and inside) for communal gatherings/socialising/eating.
There is ample car parking in the gated garden area. We have a heated outdoor swimming pool (open May-Sept) and an adjacent sunbed terrace. Our covered games room incorporates games like table tennis and darts. Outside there are areas for outdoor activities such as boules, molkky, badminton and a basketball hoop.
The size of the grounds and the layout of the accommodation ensures everyone has space and privacy when desired as well as areas to congregate all together. Each cottage has a separate kitchen equipped with cooker, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, crockery and cutlery etc should you choose to cook yourself and there is a large supermarket only 5 minutes away with excellent charcuterie, fish and fresh vegetables.
Ideally situated for visiting the Loire valley with its chateaux and vineyards, and within easy walking distance of the town of Richelieu which has historic buildings, spacious parklands and a market square around which you'll find a variety of restaurants and bars. It's only a short walk to several boulangeries for your morning croissants, bread and cakes. The chateaux and vineyards of the Loire valley are less than an hour away as are the pretty towns of Chinon, Saumur and the bigger cities of Tours and Poitiers

Summary: Very nice place for a friend reunion. We were 14, the 3 Gîtes were exactly the right size for us, very clean, we enjoyed the swimming pool, table tennis and darts, and we spent hours on the terrace as the weather was perfect (=very sunny) as well! I do recommend this place, very next to Richelieu, a charming town.

Summary: Very easy to organise. The property is superb and easy access to the Loire towns, Château’s and countryside. A wonderful week. The pool is brilliant and the various gites made everything so easy. The best facilities we have experienced in a holiday home. Thank you Alan & Sari.

Summary: Lovely property - we stayed four nights with three generations of family. The property is beautifully laid out with enough space for all to come together or find space apart when needed. The area around is beautiful and quiet ... and as everywhere with rural France need to be aware of shop and restaurant opening times

Summary: We stayed as a group of 30-somethings (with several toddlers) and had the most wonderful and perfect stay. The cottages are individually great and the space well thought through to provide privacy as well as ample space and opportunity for group gatherings. Perfect for all ages; the pool is fab and the kids loved running and playing around the garden. Alan & Sari were excellent hosts - they stay on site but in a separate cottage and gave us plenty of privacy, whilst being on hand for advice and tips. Shops are walking distance and the nearby town Richelieu (20min walk) is stunning with plenty to see and soak in. Thanks so much Alan & Sari for a wonderful stay!

Summary: Recently stayed in this property just outside of Richelieu in the Loire Valley. The property is actually three smaller properties that are rented together. It is a great place for a group stay or for a large family. Each of the units (gites) can be self contained as each has its own kitchen, laundry, eating areas, sleeping areas and bathrooms. One gite (Cherry Tree) has a very large kitchen area and has two large bedrooms both with en suites. One bedroom is on the main floor while one is upstairs. Another gite (Magnolia) has a smaller kitchen, large sitting/TV area, and two bedrooms upstairs (sharing a bathroom) and has another sleeping area on the main floor attached to the TV area which can accomodate another 3 (probably best for kids/teens as two of the beds are in an attic like space). The last gite (Wisteria) is the smallest containing one bedroom upstairs and a pull out couch. The property was only recently renovated so everything inside is very new still. It has most of what you would need for a holiday for a large group. There is seating both inside and out for summer evenings. There is a small pool that is good for cooling off in after a hot summer day. The owners are lovely and live on the property so if you need anything, you can usually ask one of them and they will be happy to help out. We were two families with kids travelling together. Great because you can get together for group functions but still have privacy in the evening.

Summary: We, that being 9 of us, 6 adults and 2 kids and a 16 yr old. were greeting by Alan and Sari with ice cold wine and beer from the journey from Calais in 87 degree heat, nice touch. our stay in Angulus Ridet was absolutely delightful, the properties have been renovated to a very high spec. the pool is a lovely fenced off area with sun lounges and brollies but still in eye shot and sight of the outside veranda area which was our main eating and meeting area for the gang. all the farmhouses were very well equipped from towels to all kitchen utensils . the town of Richelieu is a 15min walk away with its art galleies and small cafe bars in the two main squares is a nice walk in the evenings, the is a well stocked supermarket 2 minutes drive 5 minute walk away. plus two very good bakeries 10 mins away for fresh bread and croissants . the castle and town of Chinon is worth a visit and the wine named after the town is lovely, Alan the owner recommended. all in all a lovely place to stay and a fantastic base to explore the Loire valley, thank you Alan & Sari
