Summary: Lovely and quiet getaway for 4 nights. A place to escape the hustle and stress of life. Cosy little cottage with everything you need for daily living. We brought most of the food we needed. We took our small dog and she loved it. The courtyard within the 3 cottages has lawn/slabs/ stone and a nice little pond. We went to a small wood a few miles away near Middleton (millennium wood), so that she could go off lead for half an hour whilst we strolled. There's a few places of interest not far away. Brill if you're a member of English Heritage and National Trust. Yorkshire Lavender is lovely for a relaxing walk around. Overall, well worth staying here, we will book again in the near future. We used the co-op few bits.

Summary: There were far more amenities than it seemed for the listing and price. There was washing up liquid, cleaners, lots of kitchen equipment, magazines, books and DVDs. Everything was very clean. The photos for not do it justice. We were really pleased and the building was lovely. There was a lovely outside area with swallows flying around. Would be great to have a photo of this on the listing. Would be great for a young family as the bedroom has a double bed, single bed and cot. The area is gorgeous with lots to do. I would recommend a sign in the car park so you know you have arrived but apart from that could not want any more for the amazingly low price.

Summary: the cottage forms part of an enclosed courtyard that backs on to the farm yard. within the courtyard are 3 cottages, a small pond and mature planting which was frequented by many birds that were lovely to watch while sitting outside enjoying a coffee. the cottage itself had 2 bedrooms at opposite ends and an open living/dining/kitchen in the middle. everything was there that was needed from kitchen utensils and crockery, beds were made up and coal/kindling for the fire of needed. although there were a few cobwebs within the beams of the open ceiling, the furnishings were a little dated and some general wear and tear throughout, the cottage felt very homely and cosy. there is also a small, separate utility room in one corner of the courtyard that has a washing machine, dryer and chest freezer that can be used. there is also an ironing board but no iron i had sent a couple of messages via the website with queries and had replies fairly quickly. we only met the hosts very briefly on arrival to be shown where cottage was and we saw them again when we left just saying we were away. the main road from Scarborough to Thirsk is around 2 miles from the farm. Kirkbymoorside is the nearest town around 1 mile along this road. there are plenty of places to see and things to do. budget for parking as every car park is charged from around £2.40 per hour. if planning on visiting a few English Heritage sites consider becoming a member will definitely book again, lovely and peaceful

Summary: This by far was the best stay I have experienced in the past 15 years, I appreciated the no nonsense atitude and the clearly better talue than the price implied! This is a hidden Gem. I have been here for 7 weeks working in a local town. There is a full services town only 10 minutes up the road with petrol, co-op, pharmacy, chinese take away and a chippy with good fare. The more touristy destinations of Whitby, Scarborough (are under an hour drive across the Vales) and many coastal and Yorkshire Vale walks nearby. There is even a Steam train from Pickering to Whitby, with the Pickering station only a 20 minute drive as well. And for the anglers, good fishing in all the nearby rivers. Only good things to say about Helen and Richard our hosts. Everything requested was accommodated and everything expected for the price was significantly exceeded. I cant say enough except that this is an easy choice! Beautifully calm and quiet farm setting in a private grassy courtyard with patios, seating, a water feature and only 3 cottages - all with privacy, heating, all amenities and and great hosts. How welcome I felt and how much a home away from home this is. Thank you Helen and Richard for a great experience! Bob

Summary: The cottage is basic but has all you need for a relaxed stay. Set in a pleasant walled garden it offers the perfect place to unwind or explore the Yorkshire dales. Peaceful with no interference from the owner who was available should any problem arise (nothing did). Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will certainly book again should we be visiting the area. Our golden retriever also loved the place, he has sulked all the way home as he had made this place his own.
