Facing the Mont Valier nature reserve, a veranda awaits you with its lounge area to relax and its dining area (table 4 people) to eat while enjoying the view of the mountains, even on bad weather days.
We will have the pleasure of welcoming you and advising you on the hikes to do from the cottage on marked trails accessible to all (starting point for many family walks), but also on the routes of long hikes to the summits of Couserans , Valier, Crabère, Maubeture, ..

Summary: Marlene's cottage was originally an old barn for cows, and beautifully converted. It is a great place to stay for a week or longer as it is easy to access and has all amenities anyone can need. Marlene is a great host, and always available for assistance.

Summary: Cottage is quiet, clean, well equipped and suitable for travelling with a young baby. The owner provides travel cot, baby bath and high chair. The patio outside has a bbq and is all one level so safe for a toddler. Nearby town of saint Girons has a great market on Saturday mornings. Highly recommend for food shopping. Nearby Castillon has small grocery store and also a bakery, butcher etc. There is an open air swimming pool also. The local restaurant auberge de la core was great but you will need to book a table even at lunch times. The nearby bethmale lake is great for a walk and a picnic. All in all a great holiday if you want to be somewhere quiet with not too many other tourists.

Summary: Had a wonderful 2 weeks here in this very well equipped gite. Marlene was very welcoming and helpful, showing us local places of interest to visit and was nearby should there have been any problems. Lots of fantastic scenery and lovely walks all around the area. Well worth visiting the markets in St Girons and Mirepoix as well as the many beautiful villages nearby. Had tasty local produce and fresh made croissants from nearby village and would recommend the Sorbet fermier in the next village for organic icecreams. Very peaceful and tranquil region and woulkd love to visit again.

Summary: Mme Marlene Gence is a superb hostess and a charming person, for whom nothing is too much trouble; her sole aim is to give you the best possible holiday. She is always available to answer any questions guests might have about the region, but she is not at all intrusive. On arrival, guests are welcomed with a present of the delicious local cheese. The gite is very well equipped, very clean and very comfortable; the view from the terrace and the verandah is stunning. We are already planning a return trip next year.
