Positive: There are many great things about this house. - the young woman who met us to give keys and orientation to the property was lovely and helpful. - the house is exceptionally charming, inside and out. - the location is perfect, right in the heart of the most beautiful part of the city, close to everything. - the three stories of the house provides a nice separation if you are traveling with other couples. - the 3rd story (in France, the 2nd story) bedroom has its own bathroom. The 2nd floor bedrooms share a bathroom. The bathrooms are both very nice, the showers are great. Nice towels are provided, 1 big towel, one hand towel per person. No wash cloths. - there is refillable liquid soap at the sinks and in the shower. However, note that the shower soap is intended to be used for both body AND hair - they consider it to be both body wash and shampoo. (we found this to be the case in a very nice hotels in Paris as well) There is no separate shampoo, and there is no conditioner. We had to go and buy that ourselves. - the kitchen had many amenities that were nice - lots of wine glasses, enough regular glasses and dishes. Several large mixing and serving bowls. Plenty of silverware. Very limited bowls. No dish towels. - the beds were comfortable, the linens clean. - the house was very clean (with the exception of the furniture, I'll talk about that below) - it fit us all - 3 couples - very nicely, both in the living room and the dining table. Note: It is a small space compared to what Americans are used to, but spacious by European standards and comfortable for us. - there was nearby parking at Parking Les Lices C-Park, 17 Pl. des Lices, 35000 Rennes, France, only about a 3-4 minute walk. Though it was expensive per day, it turned out that for only about 30 Euro we could get a week pass. You have to go into the office at the parking structure to buy that, however. - being in a closed off courtyard kept it quiet and safe.
Negative: There was only one really big criticism of this house: the top floor bedroom with bath has no openable windows. There are two large skylights but they are closed and cannot be opened. Therefore, there is absolutely no ventilation on that top floor and hot air rises. We were there in April, and luckily all but one day was quite chilly. That one day that was warm (our first day) the room was hot. We had to take cold showers before bed. No fan was provided. I have provided this feedback to Cocoonr, but either check ahead of time that a fan will be provided, or go with the knowledge you'll want to buy a fan to use this room if this will bother you.. Other, less important, but things that you should be aware: - though the house was very clean, the furniture was not, particularly the dining chairs. This was not a problem, but noticeable. - the furniture in the living room is old and worn out. The leather chairs are opening at the seams, and some parts of the leather have holes. The upholstered furniture is saggy. The living room rug looked dirty. Everything was perfectly comfortable but doesn't look in the best condition. -there are no paper towels or tissues in the house. There was extremely limited toilet paper - 1 roll in the top bathroom. No dish towels. As mentioned, there is not separate shampoo and no conditioner. We made a trip to the store to get all these items, which we were fine with. Just know what to expect. - One of the bedrooms on the middle floor has very limited storage space - no closet and nowhere to hang much or place clothes. The other bedroom on that floor has a closet. The top floor is limited but does provide enough. . - Though I was told that there were three full bathrooms, the ground floor, which is one big room, has a little closet with only a toilet. Nothing else. Again, not a problem for us, as the other two bathrooms on the two floors above were nice. - Be aware there is only 1 blow dryer provided
