Located in the heart of Historic Chester County, few locations in the United States offer so many things to see and do. Some of the loveliest creations of man or nature are nearby ( 1hr.). The cottage is on a 70 acre country estate (circa. 1797) with fields & trails, surrounded by over 2000 acres of private land. Yet, there is gourmet dining, tennis and historic sites within walking or bicycle distance. In the late 1990s, Chester County was listed as one of the top ten counties in which to live, owing to its beauty, historic significance and the general sophistication of its inhabitants. Horse-carriages and hot air balloons are just a few of the common sights. The Cottage is located on a private lane, just off a quiet, picturesque country road that is a favorite of bicyclists, joggers and equestrians. Summary: We arrived well after dark, so it was lovely to arrive to a cottage with twinkle lights shining inside and soft music playing upstairs (although Hubby couldn't figure out how to turn it off because it's in a cupboard and he was too tired to look in the house binder). As others have said, the screened-in porch is magical, especially with the new swivel rockers and double chaise lounge. Watching the swallow family feed their chicks in the nest built in the eaves was the icing on the cake of this experience! The bed was very comfy, and all the high-touch surfaces were very clean. It was the other areas that seem like they haven't been cleaned in awhile, especially the bedroom carpet, which would benefit from more frequent shampooing. The a/c unit in the bedroom also gave off a tangy smell when turned on, so we were delighted when the humidity eased off and we could keep the windows open and use the new (and powerful!) table fan to keep air moving. I very much appreciated that fan! Even though the listing says "pets allowed," when I asked for clarification about where we should keep our cat's litter, I got the impression that "pets" meant dogs after reading Chris's response to my message. I had only even thought to ask about my cat after reading a review about small dogs. The screened-in porch turned out to be the perfect place to keep her litter, so it all worked out.

Summary: The place was really nice and really comfortable. So close to Pheonixville where we were hanging out for the weekend. We will be back next year.

Summary: Chris was super accommodating and such a friendly Host! His cottage and the entire property are absolutely beautiful-- so peaceful, relaxing-- such a welcoming and laid back place to spend a few quiet, restorative days! The cottage pictures, listing and the entire experience were even better in person than as shown on VRBO! Chris grew up on the historic property and has a wealth of historical information to share if you're interested in knowing more about the Chester Springs area. We LOVED THE SCREENED IN PORCH!! It was such an enjoyable stay-- we'd definitely stay with Chris again! Can only imagine how beautiful the property is blanketed with snow! Thanks for making us feel so welcome, Chris!

Summary: This is a lovely country setting. Remote from the hustle and bustle of traffic and shopping centers. I am from the area and was so happy to be able to go back and enjoy staying in a cottage rather than a hotel.

Summary: If you want to be out of town a little so you can enjoy walks in this beautiful area, I highly recommend this place. Just walking up some roads from the property, you will come up on nature paths and amazing views. The enclosed porch looks into a relaxing picture of green foliage, flowers, etc. A really peaceful place.

Summary: When reading that dogs were allowed but not on the furniture I drove from Maine to Pennsylvania to stay here with the hopes for extended stay over the winter with my dog but was disappointed when I read in the book at the cottage that all dogs were only allowed on the porch. Gorgeous cottage and beautiful location and area. It was a big disappointment regarding not being able to stay over the winter as hoped.
