The Space:
Tucker’s Retreat, named after our dog Tucker, is a family and dog-friendly cabin nestled in the woods of WV. You’ll enjoy a fully stocked kitchen, open floor plan with living and dining area, surrounded by large windows to let the light in. Whether the snow is falling or the stars are shining, you’re sure to enjoy the views. Head to the loft and cozy up with a good book or gather around the dining table for a fun family game night. We’d love to host your family, friends or small group!
The cabin includes:
- 3 bedrooms - Bedroom 1 - King Bed, Bedroom 2 - Queen Bed, Bedroom 3 - Double Bed and Bedroom 4 (basement) - 2 Twins and a Sleeper Sofa in the Living Room
- Chalet-style lofted ceiling with large windows that let in tons of light
- Loft area - perfect spot for reading a good book
- Fully stocked kitchen with a dishwasher
- Central heat and AC (it gets hot outside in WV in the summer!)
- Fastest WiFi you can get in the WV mountains (25 Mbps)
- Pool Table downstairs, perfect hangout for the kids
- TV with dozens of movies, DVD player, and Roku
- Board Games, toys, books, a pack-n-play and high-chair
Outside you’ll find:
- Wrap-around deck with a propane grill and seating
- Hot tub perfect for relaxing
- Fire pit for roasting marshmallows
Just a short drive:
- Drive 15 min into Berkeley Springs for amazing restaurants, shopping, and dozens of festivals
- We're nestled in the Cacapon Mountains, directly next to Cacapon Resort State Park. The park is free to enter, and has a ton of activities -- including another lake and beach, clay shooting, horseback riding, an 18-hole golf course, and miles of hiking trails.
- Just a 10 min drive from our place is a small local brewery, Berkeley Springs Brewing Company. They're constantly churning out new beer (literally every week); we're big fans of their IPA and sour beers. They also have a smoker with fantastic BBQ!
We often take our three little kids and dog to the cabin with us, so we're very family- and dog-friendly. Unfortunately we don't allow cats (we're allergic).
NOTE: We have an indoor fireplace, but unfortunately it's not usable and is only decorative.

Summary: The area and stay over one the small issues of the home itself. Shower handles and controls are in need of attention as they don’t function well. Hot tub controls are a bit unresponsive, cover clips are mostly broken. Pool table is in bad shape. All but 1 stick is broken. Owner unwilling to do late checkout or early checkin even when the cleaners are not there.

Summary: The house was in a beautiful, private and quiet location with a lovely deck, which was enjoyable for the spouses who weren't cousins and needed to get away from the rest of us for awhile. We appreciated the kitchen table where we could lay out genealogy, photos, etc. while having the large dining table in the family room for meals. The dinnerware, glassware and cookware were very sufficient for us and only had to run the dishwasher at night. The coffee maker however was very slow, may need to be cleaned or replaced. One of the chairs in the dining room was weak and did become unglued. The beds were very comfortable as was the bedding. Nice hot water for showers. And the best of surprises, we were able to use the fire pit!

Summary: Four of us spent a week continuing a long time friendship dating back to 1966. The cabin provided us with the perfect location to reminisce, visit some great restaurants and tourist areas, get in some awesome fishing, and make new memories.

Summary: I’m not big on writing reviews but our family came to stay here for our mothers memorial service nearby. After driving 9+ hours we were greeted by the master bedroom bed not clean, someone just slept in it then the bathroom attached was unclean with used wet towels all over the floor. First impression was terrible. Kitchen stove had grease all over the top. Toilet chain broke so we had to flush the toilet by sticking our hand in the back and pulling up plug. We called Tony and he was very upset with the condition that we were dealing with. We had to wait 3 hours for a cleaning lady and then we were told we would have to leave for awhile so they could clean. We refused for this to happen so we waited on the deck. Cleaning couple were super sweet and that made it better. The rest of the cabin was nice and the area very quiet so that was also good. Seating and furniture were uncomfortable I don’t think this situation that happened to us is common but it happened. Hot tub and downstairs is very nice as well. All in all I would not book this cabin again but would stay in that area.

Summary: Bath tub was clogged, kitchen drawers falling off, frig didn't shut correctly, m-wave was wobbley, mice turds, but other than that it was fine ; it was peaceful. (The 1970s decor should probably go).

Summary: It was nice to get away and relax in a secluded location. Enjoyed the hot tub. Had a good time walking around Berkeley Springs (even though most shops were closed). All in all it was a nice time away from work and hectic life.

The kitchen came well-stocked with all the necessary cookware, making meal preparation easy and convenient. The surrounding area was exceptionally quiet and dark at night, offering a level of peace and tranquility that’s hard to come by.
