Located in the charming village of Suttons Bay the "Up North Tree House" is a perfect location to get away from it all. This Glenn Arai designed home offers a modernist style with thoughtful consideration for its building site. Situated on a forested hill, it offers a tranquil setting under the shade of towering trees and actually feels like you are in a tree house. This is a 2 bedroom and 1 bathroom with shower/soaking tub and will sleep up to 4 with 1 Queen and 1 Full. Will consider short stays during any season.
All the comforts of home inside with a kitchen (small fridge, separate freezer, toaster oven, stove-top. There is NO regular oven), Cable TV, WIFI, and washer/dryer. Huge windows offer great forest views while relaxing in living room.
Step outside the living room and relax on one of the 4 decks with a bottle of tasty local wine, some hand-crafted cheese or grill the catch of the day on the provided gas grill. Let the morning sun warm you as you start your day with a cup of coffee. Only 3 blocks to the beach, marina, shopping and so much more. You can play at the beach all day but have the chance to escape from the busy summer crowds when you arrive back at the house.
There is a fantastic beach and marina right in the village of Suttons Bay on West Grand Traverse Bay. The public library offers visitors a nice spot for renting videos and books. Bike and paddle board rentals are available in the village. Hop Lot Brewery is a doable walk too. Suttons Bay is located 15 miles from Traverse City. This is a great location for visiting Leelanau County. Northport, Omena, and Leland are all easy drives. Sleeping Bear Dunes is a 25-mile drive along M-22.
No air conditioning, but fans are provided. Small dog considered.
The wood stove is not available for guest use.

Summary: Great unique home. Wonderful location. Took a while to find the freezer. While the bedrooms were a bit of a challenge, the bedding was great. Loved the decks and spending time just looking out through the trees. Throughly enjoyed ourselves.

Summary: This is a great place for 4. Nicely appointed, convenient to all dining, shopping and beach activities. Cute little kitchen with all the amenities necessary to cook a little or a lot, whichever you prefer. The fireplace was a welcome addition when coming in from the cold. Such a lovely view from every window! So welcoming for us and our little fur baby.

Summary: The house itself was just as advertised. It was clean and well stocked in the kitchen. They had plenty of towels, toilet paper, paper towels and garbage bags. It really did have a tree house feel. It is secluded but only a couple blocks from Suttons Bay. We would definitely stay again. A shot out to the management company. When we arrived the automatic lock didn’t work. We did miss out on one part of our plans for that day but they got us into another place to get ready and had a locksmith open the place. They really worked hard to make sure we could still stay there. We were able to get in after our dinner. I sure hope the owner has given them a master key to that lock now. I do feel a small refund is appropriate but haven’t heard from owner. We would stay again.

Summary: By far, this was the most unique, charming little getaway house I've ever rented! Light filled w/walls of windows overlooking tree views. Owners have gone to great lengths in thoughtfully outfitting & decorating this place while preserving it's character. They considered every need & provided for it. Ideal location just a few blocks to Suttons Bay and easy drives to Leland, Glen Arbor & Traverse City. So much to do but you will not want to leave the serenity of this special place. I'll be back that's for sure!

Summary: Location was perfect. Walking distance to downtown but nestled up in the woods. Deck provides a perfect spot to overlook the trees and sip on wine. It was perfect for what we needed for our getaway, there were just a few things that make the space somewhat impractical... My husband is tall and so the architecture (which makes the home eclectic and I'm sure many people probably really love and appreciate) makes it hard to move around, especially in the bedrooms. The beds being so low and built into the floor makes it feel somewhat like you're camping in a pop up and takes away from feel of a vacation home. Dishes were hard to find. The shower has an amazing view but the glass only goes part way and water gets all over the floor (easily rectified by putting towels down but still strange). Overall, we enjoyed our stay.
