Positive: The location was beautiful with an amazing overlook into the canyon. The area was very very quiet and the stars shone bright. The cottage was very cozy containing cute decorations, lots of heating/cooling options (including a wood furnace), and comfy furniture. Whoever did the interior designing did a very good job. The guestbook was a nice touch as well. We didn't stay for very long so didn't use them, but there was a stove, fridge, grill, sink, coffee machine, etc. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and towels were provided. Lots of electrical plugs. We were visited by a very cute cat the second morning. The location was great for us since we also wanted to visit White Sands National Park, which is less than 40 minutes away. I'd say the pricing was pretty decent for what we got. Would definitely consider coming again if we're in the area.
Negative: All of my complaints are pretty minor. The lockbox was a bit tricky to locate at first, taking me a couple minutes, but then I felt really stupid when I found it because it seems obvious in hindsight. This isn't really a knock against the cottage specifically, but High Rolls doesn't have a lot of things to do in the village itself. We went into Cloudcroft a lot to grab some bites to eat and shop which was a ~15 minute drive. Definitely not terrible, just keep that in mind. I totally understand why the smoke detector was placed directly above the wood furnace and kitchen propane heater, but it makes using the wood furnace very difficult since it seems to go off on the slightest amount of smoke so you can't really use it for heating. The shower could use a bit more light in my opinion. We didn't use the secondary bedroom, but it's sort of detached from the rest of the cottage and got pretty cold in there, so if you put, for example, a kid there keep that in mind.

Positive: Nice place, but. Shower was too small. I am a small guy ad it was a bit of a hassle. While well stocked, all C oilbetc were a year past expiry

Positive: The cottage was spotless, very quiet and peaceful. It had great views and was close to Cloudcroft, Alamogordo, White Sands and Ruidoso.
Negative: A different bed frame where it's not so difficult to get around to the other side of the bed.
Summary: Peaceful place to relax and enjoy the views while still being close to other areas of interest.

Negative: Could have used a fire starter and more kindling for the wood stove. House didn’t have fork or spoon silverware.
