Summary:
Experience beauty inside and out at Evermore Cottage. This modern cabin is part of Wilder's beautiful 40 acres and situated just 10 minutes from Hocking Hills State park. The property is nestled amongst the trees of our private woods, which is lined with hiking trails. It features a hot tub, king bed, coffee/tea bar, and selection of board games. Come unwind, disconnect from distractions, and reconnect to what matters in the stillness and beauty of the wilderness.
The Space:
Be transported 1000s of miles away to the English countryside inside this 450 sq ft cottage. It contains a bedroom with a king bed and room darkening blinds, full bathroom with shower, and an open concept living room, dining room and fully stocked kitchen. Large windows in the living room and bedroom look out onto a private deck, hot tub, fire pit, small pond, and of course, the tranquil woods of Wilder.
Evermore Cottage was designed by Wilder co-owner Shannon, and inspired by her love of British design and countryside.
Guest Access:
At Wilder, one of our goals is being eco-friendly and kind to the land we've been blessed to own. We disturbed very few trees to build our modern cabins, so you get to walk up to your cabin through the woods instead of drive right up to the door. We hope you embrace the thrill of adventure and the allure that comes from getting a little off the beaten path.
Our on-site parking is just a short walk (less than a minute) from Evermore Cottage (first cabin on your left after you enter the woods!). If you need help transporting your gear into the cabin, you can use one of 2 provided all-terrain wagons located in our shed by the parking lot.
The Neighborhood:
Nestled on 40 acres in the rolling hills of Vinton County, OH just 10 minutes from Hocking Hills State Park, Wilder is close to it all while appearing to be a hundred miles away.
On the property you'll find parking for your car (one per reservation), plenty of space to hike along the property trails, relax on a chaise while roasting s'mores, and forest bath in a hot tub while listening to the sound of nature.
Off the property you'll find that Wilder is perfectly situated only 10-15 minutes from Hocking Hills State Park, Logan, Lake Hope, and Zaleski State Forest. Within these areas you'll find ample opportunity to enjoy the outdoors hiking, fishing, canoeing/kayaking, bird watching, horse back trail riding, ATVing, zip lining, and more! It's a nature-lover's paradise and all located within a short drive of Wilder.
Other Things to Note:
We are in the process of getting Wi-Fi extended to all cabins.
We have limited cell reception. All carriers do receive signal at the ridge along the main path in our property, just steps away from the cabin. You can send and receive texts and calls there.
There is a charcoal grill on the deck, which you will need to bring charcoal for. We have grill tools supplied in the kitchen. We also have a fire pit, and wood on site near parking for $10 a bundle. All proceeds go to the Boy Scouts who supply our wood.
We do allow pets in this cabin for a $25 fee. We ask that they be kept OFF all furniture including the couch and have their own blanket/bed to sleep on. Dog hair is especially hard to get rid of so if there is excessive hair on the furniture we will charge an additional $25 cleaning fee after the stay.
Interaction with Guests:
Keyless entry with a unique code generated for each guest will be shared via text/email prior to your arrival.
Upon booking and again 3 days prior to your arrival you will receive a link to a digital guidebook with all of the information you'll need to have a great stay! The digital guidebook will include information on the cottage, property, nearby areas of interest, fun activities, and other helpful tips.

Summary: I stayed at Wilder during Christmas by myself and felt transported to a quaint English cottage. The cabin was cozy and I enjoyed cooking several good meals in the most adorable kitchen. I actually enjoyed not having WiFi — reading a great book and enjoying nature was just what I needed. My bulldog loved her walks on the property and in nearby Hocking Hills. We will definitely be back!

Summary: When we got to our Cabin, it was unmade, had dirty towels and bedsheets, broken glass from the previous occupants. (Looking past that, the cabin looked cozy). Owners were unaware we were even booked- we did get the code to get into the cabin and directions through VRBO. With no cleaning crew available until next day, owner suggested we can clean cabin ourselves. We decided to leave that night and asked for a full refund. Communication with owner was a bit sluggish as they were away but we did receive our refund.

Summary: My husband and I booked the Evermore Cottage as a little anniversary trip with our dog and this rental was everything we could have hoped for and more! Shannon and Anthony were wonderful hosts and were quick to respond to our questions – which we only had prior to arriving as they do a fabulous job at explaining everything you might need to know in their guidebook. It is certainly high on the list as one of the nicest, best located, and best values of all the places we have stayed. The cottage was clean, cozy, and had everything we needed to feel at home. There honestly isn’t a single negative thing to say about the place. The king-sized bed was SO comfortable. (I would book this again on the bed alone) It was close enough to everything we wanted to see without feeling like we were in the thick of the Hocking Hills crowds. (If you've ever visited hocking hills in the summer, you know what I'm talking about!) The whole property sits tucked away in the woods and it feels like there’s no one for miles around!! I do recommend having directions beforehand to the things you want to visit. Service is very spotty (I actually had service at the cottage which was great for music) but when we would venture out, the car would lose GPS signal intermittently or wouldn’t recognize a certain trailhead. So know where you’re going! I honestly think we will be back to Wilder! If you’ve made it this far into my review, JUST BOOK IT!

Summary: Evermore cabin is the perfect place to unplug and unwind. It had everything we needed and then some! From a warm, cozy design to the most useful kitchen items, we never lacked anything and thoroughly enjoyed our weekend escape from real life.
