This comfortably furnished and well-equipped villa has wide covered and uncovered terraces and ceiling fans in every room. Unobstructed Panoramic Views: Views from Terrace: Sunsets across the sea to the Isles des Sanguinaire are spectacular. At night the lights of Ajaccio across the bay sparkle like a diamond necklace. Into June, the snowcapped peaks in the center provide an amazing backdrop as you sunbathe on the terrace enjoying windsurfing, sailing and larger boats taking safe harbor in our local cove. Summary: The view from the balcony is seriously amazing, lovely villa, lovely garden and pool. Adele the owner was very responsive and helpful all the time. We’d go back again for sure but unfortunately discovered that Corsica is very difficult to get to from the North of England so not so easy for us (12 hour journey). But really enjoyed our time there and wish we’d booked a longer stay!

Summary: Corsica is an island of beauty and U Castellu is a wonderful base from which to discover it. Located in the charming beach town of Portigliolo, about 45 mins south of Ajaccio, the villa features stunning views of mountains and sea, outdoor living with a wrap around terrace, and outdoor pool, shower and garden, a well appointed kitchen, attractive master suite and a functional set of rooms that accommodates a small or large group looking for a base from which to discover southern Corsica and all within walking distance to the beach! Wow! We highly recommend this property.

Summary: Thank-you so much Adèle! Our group of 8 had plenty of space and a wonderful stay. As it was our first time in Corse it was easy to fall in love with this amazing island but we can't overlook the part that U Castellu played in making it a magical experience. Your responsiveness was not only prompt but thoughtful and with local support from Carole we felt well taken care of. So many great features of the house....plenty of space, excellent amenities, and the terrace which is hard to put into words. Such a relaxing place to stay; many thanks again!

Summary: From the time you open the front door and see right through the main living area to the stunning view you know you have found the perfect home. Adele, the owner was so easy to correspond with and Carole her house manger was delightful and made us feel we could ask anything and she would make sure it happened. My husband and I, my son and his young family plus my mother each had our own room and bathroom with room to spare. Turns out the outdoor shower was the biggest hit with the children, and parents were only too happy have them go from the pool to shower at the end of the day for a clean up. The upper balcony terrace has such a lovely view, whether you are having breakfast or an evening dinner, you never tire of looking out. The pool area is extensive with lots of seating and chaises, where you can choose shade beneath the maples or sun poolside. It is a short walk to La Barake, a darling small grocery store/bar/ and out door seating area that has fresh bread delivered each day. It is the answer to everything you may need. Madame and her husband Monsieur Marc are congenial and helpful in every way. There are beach restaurants (one within walking distance), beach bars and pizza places, creperies and activities close enough to find easily and far enough away to make you feel you are in a remote, untouched gem of an area. We fell in love with Corsica and can’t wait to go back. U Castellu was the biggest part of our new found affection for this part of the world. Many thanks to all the wonderful people we met along the way and to Madame Bozza for sharing her lovely home.

Summary: We arrived at Ajaccio Airport, rented a car and made the 40km drive to U Castellu. It was our first time in Corsica and we were surprised how easy it was to get to the villa. We drove along the breathtaking coastline and made a stop about 5 km from U Castellu in a town called Ruppione to pick up some French bread. Much to our surprise, the store we stopped at not only had great bread but also the most delicious beignets and home-made ice cream. We were in heaven! The trip was already a big hit. One more stop to pick up some wine and we were back on the road. Upon arriving at U Castellu, we immediately fell in love with this beautiful five bedroom villa. As soon as we walked in we were greeted with spectacular panoramic views of the Gulf of Ajaccio and the mountains of Corsica. From the stunning and unobstructed view from the terrace, you can see the local beach (which is a 5 minute walk) and the scenic winding coastline. As we continued our tour of the villa we entered the spacious master bedroom which is located on the top floor and shares the same great views as the terrace. The master also has its own private bath. Down a flight of stairs there were four more good-sized bedrooms - each bedroom has french doors that lead out to the garden and lovely pool. Two good sized baths, and a laundry room complete the bottom floor. Coming back upstairs, we realized just how spacious the living room is with a cozy fireplace and cathedral ceiling. We did not notice this when we first walked in because we were overcome with the views. The kitchen is very functional with all of the amenities you have at home. The biggest complement to the kitchen is the built-in grill on the terrace. We barbequed chicken, fresh fish and steak while we were there and sat out on the terrace in the large eating area for breakfast, lunch and dinner, enjoying the gorgeous views. As we walked outside to stick our feet in the pool we found an outdoor shower that ended up to be a primary source of showering even the though the showers inside were updated and quite attractive. This villa is handsomely decorated and impeccably clean and lacks nothing. Our only regret was that we had plans to continue our tour of France and could not stay longer. If you are looking for a romantic get-away or a family vacation for 10, U Castellu will not disappoint! Thank you for a most enjoyable stay. Jim & Carrie McCrudden

Summary: Six guests from around the U.S. met in Corsica to celebrate a milestone birthday. We cannot wait to go back! We selected U Castellu because of its location and the generous amenities at the villa. The week was spent swimming, shopping for local ingredients for our meals, hiking, walking, talking, and enjoying fine Corsican wines. The sunsets were memorable, and the villa is clean and full of every modern convenience needed to make for a perfect vacation. Our questions were answered by owner Adele prior to our arrival so that our stay was comfortable and inspiring. We ate at several local restaurants and enjoyed fresh seafood every day. I suggest side trips to Bonifacio (ancient walled city) and Bastia, as well as Napolean's home in Ajaccio. The entire island is rich with history and beautiful people who welcomed us.

Summary: This was our fourth vacation at U Castellu and we loved it again. The house is perfect for our two families (3 adults + 6 kids/teenagers). It is within walking distance of a little grocery with wonderful bread and a beach that the kids can hang out on by themselves. About an hour from Ajaccio, it is also close enough to enjoy some of the more extreme sports available in the center of the country (Reves des Cimes has a fantastic ziplining park in Vero and canyoning options). We will definitely be back!

Summary: We had a wonderful stay in U Castellu with 7 people, one week in July, and both the accommodation itself and the surroundings surpassed our expectations. The property offers a lot of space and is fully equipped, the garden gives you a choice between shade and sun, and is surrounded by plants and flowers giving a cozy feeling of having a small paradise all to yourself. It was a joy to have breakfast in the morning on the terrace with an amazing view on the bay, and dinner in the evening with colorful sunsets over the sea. Adele, the owner, provides a lot of information about the shops, restaurants and things to do or visit, and I very much appreciated the pleasant contact with Adele and her swift reaction on any question we had. The location of the villa is very quite and the nearby beach is not crowded at all. There are also other small beaches to the south, and while we had a bumpy ride to reach one of them, the view was well worth the effort. There is a small shop near the beach, but while larger shops are not very far by car it does take some time to get there as straight roads seem to be unknown in Corsica. The upside of all the turns and curves in the road is the amazing sequence of spectacular views. This was our first visit to Corsica and it was a very positive discovery for us, it is really a beautiful destination. It offers a great combination of sea, beach and mountains, and we found U Castellu the perfect place to stay and enjoy this. Highly recommended.

Summary: We were a Group of 9 friends from Norway and France who spent a memorable week in Corsica. The American owner is very well organized and attentionate and the local manager is professional and responsive, although slightly overworked during summer, which is probably unavoidable. It was very clean upon our arrival. We did not find the absence of air condition to be much of a problem. The view from the villa is even better than the photos suggest and the balcony and pool areas are splendid. We enjoyed the proximity of beaches, hiking tours (do not miss the Capu di Muru Tower!) and tennis courts.
