What Our Guests say 500 + Reviews

Summary: A charming old house in the countryside with a welcoming and cosy atmosphere. We immediately felt at home and spend three relaxing weeks with our dog there. The house offers everything you need as well as a huge garden to have breakfast or dinner outside - bakery, bucher and several supermarkets are close nearby. Also located close to the landings beaches it's a great spot to explore the museums or the Cotentin Peninsula. The communication with the owner David was always kind and caring and no questions left unanswered. We had a wonderful stay, exactly what we were looking for.

Summary: Still as enjoyable as the first time we stayed. Always something to see or do in the area before relaxing in front of the big open fire in the evening. Thanks David. (See older reviews by us for details)

Summary: This is a beautiful old stone cottage, perfectly situated for exploring the Normandy D-Day beaches, other parts of the Cotentin Peninsula, and adjoining areas. Set up with everything we needed to enjoy our vacation. We really enjoyed the large open hearth in the kitchen and the owners' wonderful collection of books. The cottage easily accomodated the four of us -- could have added two more -- with enough modern updates for comfort. The sheds and barn outside include toys like bicyles and a ping-pong table for amusement, and the front patio is a very pleasant spot to sit out on a fine evening. Ravenoville is a very quiet country town, but Ste Mer Iglise is close by and has all necessary conveniences.

Summary: Just returned from our second visit to this property and have to say it has captured our hearts. Travelled with my husband, our two children age 13 and 16 and our cocker spaniel. We stayed at the property last year and loved the quaintness of the house, the log fire being the main feature of an evening, where we would all sit around and talk about things we'd done that day whilst toasting marshmallows. There isn't anything missing in the property, David has catered for absolutely everything and if there is something you need, you only have to email him and he sorts it immediately ... he has even had wifi installed which is a bonus !! After visiting last year, we thought we'd run out of things to do, but ... no !! there is so much to see. lots of pretty villages and idyllic beaches ... we also visited Mont st Michel ... which is awesome !! I would recommend this property to families and couples that love sight seeing there is so much to do !! Thank you David, we hope to return next year !!

Summary: We spent a week at La Fontaine in mid-September and had a wonderful time. The weather was excellent (partly cloudy to sunny most days) and La Fontaine made a perfect base from which to explore Normandy. The house is rustic, very charming and, although bigger than we needed in terms of beds, it suited our family with two boys (4 & 2 years old) very well. The fenced in front yard provided a perfect play area for the boys and I could keep an eye on them through the kitchen window while cooking dinner. The yard also had a apple tree and the boys loved finding the perfectly ripe, red ones and munching away. The kitchen has an enormous stone fireplace that became the center of activity during mornings and evenings. The fire took the chill out of the September air and proved to be a great alternative to watching videos in the evening. The huge master bedroom turned out to be big enough for the four of us and we settled in to sleep family style - everyone in one big room. Ravenoville is in a great location within easy driving distance to all the D-Day Beaches and about an hour and a half to Mont St Michel and Honfleur. The local shop has all the basics and St Mere Eglise (5km) has a full service grocery store and wonderful market on Thursday mornings.

Summary: We absolutely loved our weeks stay in this property. The house was located in a pretty little village and only a stones throw away from the local shop, bar and restaurant. Beautiful house, boasting many of it's original features and fabulous large garden, with everything you will need, barbecue, pool, swingball, bicycles and much more (all in the out buildings ready for use ) My husband and I went with our two children aged 11 and 14 and our cocker spaniel, they loved playing in the garden and splashing about in the swimming pool. If you are a ww2 enthusiast, then this place is definitely for you!! so many museums, beaches and war memorials nearby, we crammed as much in as we possibly could in the week we were there! We didn't really eat out as the weather was nice enough for barbecues and there was a Lidl close by where you could get all your barbecue food ( and 5litres of red wine for £6 !!) Evenings were nice and cosy, as we sat around the open fire toasting marshmallows!! The owner, David, is very helpful and always on hand to answer any emails I would definitely recommend this place to anyone, it has everything you could possibly need and more ...... you won't be disappointed!!
