What Our Guests say 500 + Reviews

Summary: Our family of five enjoyed staying four nights at the Chalet Cassiopeia, a clean and modern house with comfortable beds and quality furnishings. Located in a quiet neighborhood, away from the crowds of tourists, but only about 15-minute bus ride to the Grindelwald train station (the Panorama stop is just steps away to the chalet, and the Klusi stop is about a five-minute walk away). Karin, the host, provided helpful information, and a Grindelwald vistors card is provided. Our only complaints were that the retractable awning for the deck was not working and that Karin did not respond immediately to a problem we were having with the TV because she was away on holiday (fortunately, we figured out how to solve the issue). It would have also been nice to have lighter weight blankets available, as it was quite warm during our first few nights there.

Summary: Great place-great views-bus schedule difficult to figure out- Great overall but a few complaints…beds uncomfortable with no cover sheet/quilt only, Stayed 6 nights and was only given 1 bath towel each with no access to washing machine. Again overall very nice but a few amenities and better customer service would make the experience excellent.

Summary: Steep driveway and 43 steep steps up to the entrance may be difficult for older visitors carrying luggage. A handrail or cable would be helpful.

Summary: Great place to stay in Grindelwald. You are able to get away from the crowds here, and enjoy some peace and quiet. Furthermore, the views of the Eiger from the balcony are stunning and left me in awe each of the 6 days we were there.

Summary: The pictures of the views really don't do it justice. The Eiger is right out your windows. The inside of the home is very clean and comfortable with great wifi, tv, cooking and a nice bathroom. We had a minor problem after checking in and the host took care of it that afternoon (or rather her son did). A few notes for others: GPS sent us to a drive way that is just short of the actual drive, you need to continue on a go up the tiny road just to the right of the "Panorama" bus stop and parking and then be on the lookout to your right for "Casseopeia". Also, the bus is very convenient, but runs once an hour. We did 4-6 hour hikes everyday and our favorites were the Northface trail in Murren (the other valley), the Romantikweg from the Manlichen tram, and the hike down from Grindelwald First past Bachalpsee was wonderful. Thanks to Karin for a wonderful experience.

Summary: It is not perfect but it is a very nice place. We enjoyed the view. We liked the chalet. Relatively well furnished. Liked the game boards provided. Raclette kit. We really liked Grindelwald in general. We were close to the city but not that close, which we liked. It was quiet and relaxing. Because we had a car. So it was easy. But without a car, it might have been different. Very steep.

Summary: First of all I would like to thank Karin for changing our dates twice after our initial booking due to the pandemic. Our holiday was definitely worth waiting for! Grindelwald is one of our favourite destinations and we had the most fantastic weather with only one cloudy day in 10 days. The chalet is in an excellent location with stunning mountain views. It is an easy walk downhill to the centre of Grindelwald but I would recommend catching the 122 bus back to the chalet, it is quite a steep climb back up! The chalet is quite simply furnished but was clean, tidy and always warm and cosy. The beds were comfortable and there was always plenty of hot water. There is another chalet very close by but we heard nothing at all from them. Someone nearby does have a cockerel though which did wake us up quite early! I would not hesitate in recommending Karin's chalet and we would love to return in the future.

Summary: We loved this Chalet. It was roomy, well equipped, and the views are amazing! If you do not have a car, it is a 20+ minute hike uphill from downtown Grindelwald, so we recommend catching the 122 bus from the bus station near the train station (across from the Coop grocery store.) The 122 bus runs once an hour during the day (but we recommend checking the bus schedule.)
