Positive: The apartment itself is really nice, comfy and cute. The building is somewhat run down, in some places it smells bad, and one has to carry the suitcases up lots of stairs. There is no automatic light which turns on at night on the very dark staircase, which is strange and dangerous.
Negative: Although the apartment is very nice overall, the shower stall on the ground floor has a problem, the water flows out. The building is run down. In some places in the staircase going up to the apartment, it smells bad. There is no lighting on the staircase at night, which makes it dangerous in terms of tripping and falling. One has to carry the suitcases up three flights of steep, unlit, dark steps - the building could sure use some new painting and an elevator!
Summary: A very nice apartment, well located, in a rundown building.

Positive: This huge apartment allowed plenty of space for our family of 4. The beds were comfortable, the bathrooms were clean and the showers were lovely. Instructions for picking up the key were easy and the host responded to our questions in good time. Accessing the channels on TV were no problem. A great range of places to eat near-by and a convenient corner store 1 block away. Close to Croix-Paquet metro station (still some up hill walking) or Croix Rousse metro (down hill walking but a bit further). The washing machine worked well and was appreciated (no powder provided). The apartment is on the 3rd floor (with no elevator) which was only a bother when moving heavy bags, but aside from that the stairs were no problem for our family.
Negative: When we booked, we made sure that the apartment had air-conditioning. Our expectation was that it was fully airconditioned as we knew the summer this year was expected to be hot. The huge apartment only had 2 portable air-conditioning units for the 4 bedrooms and high-ceiling living space which were barely adequate. When we arrived at 5pm the apartment was incredibly hot. We managed to cool the bedrooms after 24 hours so we could sleep well. I appreciated the apartment having those air-conditioning units, however, the description when booking did not meet my expectation. I acknowledge that this summer was particularly warm. It looks like this apartment would be lovely in the cooler weather with central heating.

Negative: Only one key. Big issue when you are a large group as not everyone is coming home same time
