Positive: We loved the ethos of the hotel and their commitment to quality water with reusable bottles to avoid plastic waste. The location by the harbour was pretty and convenient and there were plenty of amenities provided. The room itself was clean and very contemporary with a minimalist edge; Very spacious with good quality beds and a lovely shower and toilet area. The buffet breakfast was very good quality as well and themed to Taiwanese and local Penghu tastes. The chef made dishes at the counter and omelette were the highlight and were hot and full of flavour.
Negative: The breakfast service was a bit strict. We were still taking our time to digest our breakfast over coffee, when at 10:05 the staff forced us to abandon the drink and food we had left and it was wasted. I do not like wasting food and this seems to go against the environmentally friendly ethos of the hotel. In addition, I would personally consider it very rude to force a hotel guest to leave just because breakfast finished at 10am. I understand the need to prepare for lunch, however, there is no need to rush guests out of the dining area. We are then made to feel like we are annoying cockroaches rather than paying guests. I am not sure if this is a Taiwanese cultural trait, but as a British person I was rather quite upset and annoyed by this disregard for our custom. Since we are paying guests in a more upmarket hotel, I would expect more leniency over when we can leave the table. Being 5 (or even 30) minutes over is hardly going to set back the staff from preparing for lunch. So, please take into consideration your guests at breakfast and to not be so cut throat in your dining times.

Positive: Cozy and tranquil, and there is a really nice gym! We really enjoyed our stay there. Would definitely choose discovery hotel again for our next trip to PengHu.
