Positive: Breakfast was excellent and varied, with everything you could wish for. The staff were extremely friendly, and the surroundings are beautiful, surrounded by nature. We even received a room upgrade.
Negative: When we first arrived, we noticed a musty smell. At first, the place looked nice, but on closer inspection, things felt done quite superficially. Some things are falling apart, and the shower in the lower bathroom wouldn’t open. There’s no mobile signal on the property, and no Wi-Fi is available. Also, don’t expect to play golf—the golf course is not maintained.
Summary: Great breakfast and friendly staff, but musty smell, no Wi-Fi

Positive: OK… we travel a lot and my wife works for a large international tour operator in contracting hotels, so we are able to judge from extensive experience… and this is an honest review. The hotel recently (June/July 2025) re-opened after being closed for about a year due to change in management / ownership. Hence, some aspects are not up to expectations yet… given the right level of (sustainable) investment and proper management, staff training and quality control, this property could be a true gem! With that in mind, they are trying really hard to rebuild the business - which is not easy re-booting during the main season. The property itself is very nice, with sweeping views of the country side and a great architectural mix between the old monastery and an almost “mid-century modern” part for the rooms around a lovely designed pool area. The breakfast is good and the choice totally OK (we cannot confirm the other negative comments about the breakfast), the staff are working very hard to refill and also serve special requests! Also, the setting (terrace) where BF is served is a lovely spot.
Negative: maintenance to the rooms and throughout the property incl. pool is required, TV’s don’t work, WiFi is very sketchy, the “gym” is very improvised and no professional equipment, the golf course is shut and parched (which is planned to be re-opened end of 2026), no vending machine (which would bbe very easy to implement), front desk staff could be a little more welcoming and address the guests concerns instead of brushing them off. The cleaning in the rooms needs to be improved - even with all other challenges in mind, proper cleaning of the rooms is essential and doesn’t need much other than proper quality management.
Summary: We enjoyed it as a base for the area and enjoyed the pool - taking advantage of the comparatively good value for money!
