House on the Hill – accomodation in Gorlice It is our privilege to present you accomodation located in Gorlice, at the foot of the Beskid Niski Mountains. This region has the most interesting features of the Beskid Sądecki Mountains, Pogórze Karpackie (the Carpathian Foothills),and the Bieszczady Mountains. In our house – among greenery on outskirts of the town – you can find both cozy rest and quiet family stay. We can offer you professionally equipped rooms for two or three people each one. All rooms have their own entrances from the outside of the building. The rooms have bathrooms, TV-sets, radios, and fridges. There is the possibility of preparing meals on your own or ordering them out. More information you can get at the hosts. You are welcome to our house all year long.

Positive: This house is located in a very quiet, rural location on the outskirts of Gorlice. We very much appreciated the peace and quiet in the evenings. The room was immaculately clean, as was the small shower room en-suite. It's fittings were basic, but completely adequate for our purposes (we were out, away from the room in our car, exploring the countryside and small villages all day). This was a spacious, tile-floored room, located on the ground floor of the house in a semi-basement (6 tiled steps down to our room's door). The room had three single beds; we used two. There was a small unit with a hob top and a very small fridge plus basic cutlery,electric kettle and a few pots etc. Because we were staying there in the middle of an unexpected heat-wave, we did no cooking, making cold meals/snacks and eating out for one meal a day. On our arrival, the owner's son (who spoke some English) was there to get us settled-in. This was very helpful. After this point, we planned to communicate with the property's owner who lived upstairs via phone translation apps, as she does not speak English and we do not speak Polish. In the event, this was not needed. The owner's son suggested two nearby supermarkets where we could stock up with food. As there was no air conditioning, but the ground floor location kept things relatively cooler, and even on days of 32 C heat, the room cooled off at night through one large screened window with a privacy blind. Outdoor clothesline for drying hand washing was appreciated (clothes pegs provided). We stayed for five nights, and felt this was good value in a situation where we were out and about all day. We did not use the TV, so can't comment on it. But WiFi was fine - better than our slow rural WiFi at home!

Negative: *The small shower had good water pressure, but the hinged shower doors were tricky to get closed properly. Opening the shower door always dragged water onto the shower room floor. We hung out the very wet bathmat and towel on the clothesline, and the owner took the hint and provided extra, clean dry towels when she saw this. *Mobility issue: There was no handrail for the tiled steps down to the door of the room. loose mats on the steps actually made them <more> of a slip hazard, so the owner's son removed them for me. I actually slipped 'sat down unexpectedly' on my first time going down the steps. I learned to use my fingers in the ridged siding of the house to walk carefully up and down the steps. ***A handrail would be a big help here. * There was only one sink in the room (with very low water pressure, so it filled slowly). Washing plates, mugs and cutlery had to be done in the deep sink in the shower room. There was a scrubbing sponge provided to clean the sink between uses - but we bought some dishwashing detergent, which we left behind. The shared skink worked okay for us because we weren't attempting to cook any hot meals, so washing-up was not challenging. * Location of the property was hard to see (using our Satnav) when we first arrived, and there was a very tight turn to get onto the property and its driveway. However, there was plenty of parking in a grassy area near the house.

Summary: Clean, Quiet, Basic Room, this was good as a five-day base for touring.
