Positive: The owner Loretta is very welcoming and hospitable. A lovely vegetarian dinner was cooked by her husband Harood which was both tasty and plentiful and ready to be served bang on time. Slept really well, very quiet at night, a warm blanket and duvet ensured I was not cold and WiFi worked well. The owners daughter speaks great English and is contactable should google translate fail. A great stay for a non fussy traveller who doesn’t expect 5 star luxury given the price point. An excellent place to stay to continue hiking onwards the following day and nice that a local family benefits directly from tourism. Hope more people come and stay here.

Positive: If you would like to experience solitude, warm hospitality of people, beautiful nature and the river and the charm of a village, then this Airbnb is the one. Lauretta is a wonderful host and treats you like a family member. Do not worry about English, you will be able to manage just fine. Lauretta’s daughter is available through chat or on the phone if you would need help. If you can manage to share with the locals and be friendly, you might be in for a treat, as for me, the local kids decided to show me around their village and we even had a mini picnic at the river. Lauretta prepares very tasty food and the portions are very generous. She makes them from locally grown vegetables and it is as organic as it can get. The whole stay and experience is more than worth the money and I hope Lauretta continues to run this guesthouse so that more people can visit and I can come back the next time too.

Negative: Nothing in particular because I knew what I would expect 🙂 The road from the highway to the Dzoragiyugh is not paved although they have just started with the works. So be prepared for a rough 4km ride but it is the only way to reach the village.

Summary: Very cozy stay. Warm hospitality from the host and the village. True slow living experience.

Positive: This is an authentic experience of staying in a small village accessible only by small dirt tracks. If you are expecting a B&B like what you get in a larger town then this is not for you. But if you want to experience Armenian village life then it is fantastic. The host and owner of the house speaks no English but he calls his daughter in Yerevan and she speaks good English and can interpret. I had trouble finding the house, my fault entirely, I messaged the property via booking.com and immediately got help from the daughter to find the house. The room was basic but comfortable. The shower was warm, he had to help to turn the water on and power on to get the shower to operate. Dinner was simple but good, I am a hungry bicycle tourer and I was well fed. Breakfast was simple and good. The daughter was very helpful on the phone. For a basic accommodation and genuine experience of Armenian village life I highly recommend this place.

Positive: The host was welcoming and we ate delicious traditional food. We spoke little English but were about to communicate. We felt like we saw the real Armenia, just what we wanted. Enjoyed the small village, everyone was friendly and welcoming.
