Positive: It was in a very convenient location and excellent value for money. The birdwatching deck was an amazing bonus! The room was clean and very comfortable. The facilities themselves are beautiful and are great for just relaxing outdoors among nature. The staff are also extremely kind and responsive.
Negative: It’s a bit inconvenient that they only take cash, but I understand why and it wasn’t an issue for me. Just something to keep in mind if staying here.
Summary: Excellent value for money if you want a private room and bathroom close to the center of Mindo!

Positive: Great view of birds, capybara, squirrels etc from the room and breakfast area. Felt relaxing during the entire stay. The room and communal areas were always clean and tidy. Breakfast was a generous amount. The staff was friendly and always helpful. Great location, only 5 mins to the main street.

Positive: The owner is so kind. He helped us with everything we needed, and was available at all time. Gave us all the tips needed. The breakfast was very tasty and abundant, they even got me extra yogurt as I had asked for it. The area is beautiful with the birds and toucans, very peaceful and quiet, but also very close to everything.
Negative: Only thing is that it would be nice to have at least some shampoo in the bathroom, as well as a hairdrier available for use. All hotels should have one for their clients. A part from that, everything was great

Positive: The accommodation exceeded my expectations, it was the best in Mindo. I just want to warn you that Mindo is a tourist trap!!! Anyone who travels will understand what I mean.

Positive: Breakfast was standard but filling. Having breakfast on a verandah overlooking the cultivated patch of cloud forest that is El Descanso’s backyard was singularly wonderful. It’s a nonstop living tapestry of hummingbirds, tanagers, doves, flycatchers and more, plus agoutis scampering on the ground. I can’t think of a better way to start the day than in Rodney’s backyard, with a cup of hot chocolate.
Negative: No complaints. The room was clean and comfortable and the shower was hot.
Summary: Exceptionally pleasant. I’d go back any day.
