Summary: Very nice house and warm welcome by our host Karl Defortescu. The view from the house on Omaha beach is simply stunning. Monsieur Karl had the swimmiing pool ready and heated which we didn’t expect because the weather hadn’t been warm last weeks which makes it diffucult to heat the pool. But is was heated and this was a real treat for our boys who swam every day of the week. We visited all the must sees and more in the area, even went to Le Mont st Michel for a day. We as a famliy have fallen in love with Normandy. The history, nature and lovely towns., impressive! The house we would recommend to all our friends. Family Veenstra

Summary: Highly recommended. Unsurpassable views from very well-appointed and super-clean accommodation. One goes to sleep at night to the sound of waves lapping at the nearby shore. Combined with the pure air I slept the best I have slept in many years. Beautiful sunrise views from the large Velux bedroom windows are well worth setting the alarm for around 5am to witness. The private pool is kept meticulously clean and beautifully maintained on a daily 3hr regime by Monsieur Karl whom we all got to know during our week stay and we thoroughly respected and adored. We were welcomed by Ms Elizabeth who is a formidable women and very very kind. We arrived late mostly due to my terrible map reading but Elizabeth was very welcoming and forgiving. We owe both Elizabeth and Karl a great appreciation for their authenticity and kindness and for sharing a piece of French paradise with us. We will think of you both often and wish you both well for the future :))

Summary: The view of Omaha beach is simply amazing! It was an absolute joy to cook in a kitchen with a clear view of the beach listening to the sound of the ocean. The house is well equipped (even has a teapot, which for us tea drinkers is a bonus!) and comfortable. The rooms are much larger than the pictures suggest providing plenty of room for a family of 5 to spread out. The pool is exceptionally well maintained by Karl and is lovely and warm. The children had a great time using it! Karl & Elisabeth were perfect hosts, available to help if needed. Omaha surprised us, it feels like it a 'protected' area not overbuilt and whilst there are many day trippers, the beach is so vast you are not crowded. It is an excellent location to explore the many D-Day sites, such as Pointe Du Hoc, the American Cemetery and many more places. There is a small supermarket nearby with a much larger one around 20 mins drive away. There are also a couple of restaurants/cafes in walking distance as well, which we didn't visit as we enjoyed eating in the kitchen with its magnificent view! We hope to return as there are many more sites we would like to visit and the accommodation is perfect for us!

Summary: It was a perfect vacation all around. Mr. Defortescu lives in the house next door and is in no way intrusive, but maximum polite and reserved. Everything in the house is good, clean and neat provided lacked nothing. Since we had our own wifi, the unstable wifi did not bother us. Location and surroundings are fantastic. We are currently planning another stay!

Summary: Everything about this place is amazing and better than I had ever imagined. Karl, the owner, is great, was always ready to help with any enquiries yet never imposing. The swimming pool was thoroughly maintained and lovely after a day out. The location was also ideal for the local sights. Cleanliness was 5* and it is a very comfortable house with everything you would need during your stay. Definitely recommended.

Summary: My family of 5 spent a week in this home during the 75th anniversary of D-Day. This is a beautiful place to stay. The lodging was very comfortable for my teenage children, my wife and I. The kitchen was well appointed and the living area was perfect. The view from the large windows simply cannot be beat. We loved opening the windows and enjoying the breeze and the sound of the surf. With the beach just across the street and located equidistant between Vierville and St. Laurent there is no shortage of things to do. And if that's not enough, there's a covered pool in the front yard! My kids were in that pool every day! While spending time in such a historical area and a beautiful location, the highlight of our trip may have been our incredible host. Monsieur Defortescu was a treasure. He and his daughter Elizabeth were available without being intrusive. He lives adjacent to the property and she is nearby as well. They met us when we arrived late int he day and if we had any questions they were very prompt and helpful. One of the greatest memories I will carry from our trip was the time spent with Monsieur Defortescu. Thank you for sharing your lovely home with us.

Summary: We spent a week in Normandy and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house is comfortable and very well equipped. We enjoyed dinners gazing at the breathtaking views of Omaha Beach. Karl is a gracious host and a fount of local history knowledge. Chatting with him made me all the more appreciative of the rich history of the area. We would choose to stay here again without hesitation.
