Enjoy long range mountain views at nearly 4,000 ft in elevation. Explore the forest and ridge along marked hiking trails. This is a true rural escape. This amazing vacation cottage is comfortable and roomy. Relax on the large covered porch by the outdoor stone fireplace (one inside too) or on the stone patio overlooking Big Horse Creek Valley, Mt Rogers and Whitetop Mt. We are just 15 minutes from the VA Creeper Trail and 25 minutes from West Jefferson. This is a beautifully, hand crafted, built green, romantic, mountain cottage. 3 bedroom, 2-1/2 baths, (3) queens, (1) triple bunk, well appointed kitchen, (please note - for safety food items are not provided by host, including salt and pepper, stone fireplace, smart TV, Netflix, WIFI, assorted games, washer/dryer, air conditioning, charcoal grill. Master bedroom 1st floor - queen suite with claw foot tub and rain head walk in shower.
Upstairs – 2 bedrooms incl: (1) queen bedroom, (1) queen and a set of triple kid bunks.
Shared Jack n Jill bath with double vanity separate from walk in shower and toilet room.
Living Space - leather couch, 2 recliners, open to kitchen. Powder room
Kitchen has a breakfast nook that seats 6.

What is included:
Kitchen is well equipped with cookware, coffee maker, (Keurig and Mr. Coffee), bean grinder, dishwashing tablets and liquid soap, icemaker, gas cooktop, electric oven, microwave, dishes, cookware, utensils, crockpot. One roll of paper towels, one roll of toilet paper per bathroom, shampoo, and soap.
Cotton sheets, fluffy towels, down comforters, quilts. Pack n Play available upon request.
Weber grill, Smart TV, Netflix, WIFI, books, board games.
Firewood
Things to bring:
Toilet paper, laundry detergent, food, spices, charcoal, if you plan to cook out

Summary: Our stay at Granny Mandy’s was just wonderful! The cabin is well appointed - easily and comfortably fit our family of seven! Communication with the owners was simple and easy. George made every effort to make sure that we were taken care of. The property itself has just about anything that you could look for… From beautiful views to on site hikes to a local rest and relaxation area at the Pascova. We also really appreciated the preservation of family history that was evident in both the cabin, and on the grounds. Grayson highlands State Park is about a 30 minute drive away for some spectacular hikes with great views! We would love the opportunity to stay again!

Summary: This is a beautiful home with a fabulous view of the mountains. Plush bathroom towels and nice cotton sheets for the beds. The kitchen is well stocked. We needed some help at some point and the owner was easily gotten in touch with. Its 35 mins. to West Jefferson which is a delighted town and 30 mins to Grayson Highlands for hiking. A great weekend. Oh and a really nice outdoor fire place with wood ready to be burned.

Summary: We enjoyed our mountain view and quiet stay. Lovely house to spend time with family. My mom stayed at the other house and it was a short walk between the two. Pond is gorgeous and our youngest loved walking to see the horse and donkey each day. .

Summary: This place was the perfect home base for my trail race weekend. The cabin was awesome. Everything seemed new. The views were great. It had everything we needed. Plenty of firewood. The owner was around the property all weekend and was friendly and non intrusive. We had fun feeding the horse and donkey and loved taking many free range eggs from the coop. Enjoyed the short hike to the top of the mountain on the property which provided amazing views. My kids enjoyed pretending to be in a scene from the Sound of Music. The town of Lansing is close but doesn’t have much. West Jefferson is a little further but has breweries and restaurants. Fill up the gas tank before you get within 30min. I’d come back again if we are in the area. The Grayson highlands state park was about 40 min away. It’s an immaculate state park and worth checking out .

Summary: We loved our stay On the Windfall. George was a gracious host. We enjoyed the animals, fresh eggs for breakfast and the hot tub while we were there. Hiked trails at Grayson Highlands and Mount Jefferson during the days. West Jefferson is a great stop for shopping or grabbing a bite to eat. Lansing has great pizza at Pie on the Mountain and cider at Molly Chompers! We hate to say how much we loved staying here in fear that others will also learn about the wonderful place it is. :)
