Travel Purpose: leisure
Positive: Beatiful location with nice facilities
Negative: When I wanted to extend my stay, I was surprised to be quoted a higher price than the rate I was already paying through Booking.com and was then told that I had only received the original price because of a “glitch.” and that the property receives the full amount from Booking.com, which I believe is not the case. I understand that there may have been a system or pricing issue involved. Even if there was a genuine technical issue, I don’t think this should be something the guest is expected to take responsibility for after the booking has already been made. I then told them I will extend on booking, but soon after they raised the price on platform aswell. There was also an additional $1.50 tax that I was asked to pay on site, despite Booking.com showing that this had already been included in what I had paid. This added to the confusion. When the owner/manager came to discuss the situation, he mentioned that he didn’t have much time. I completely understand that people can be busy, but in a situation where a guest already feels uncomfortable, it is important to make them not feel pressured and feel that their concern is being taken seriously. I left after they made impossible to extend.

Positive: The location is outstanding - the facilities are provided with the ecological impact on the location very much in mind. Hearing about the recolonisation coral project beds in the bay and getting into and onto the water was a real treat.
Negative: There was some ambient noise from Tanga Town itself, however the restful vibe soon drowns that out.
Summary: Human kindness, custodial care for the incredible location and comfort to unwind.
