Stay in our newly built Freese Cottage, located behind & owned by Omapere Community Church.
This peaceful, private spot provides a retreat for the whole family.
Fully furnished and equipped with everything you need to enjoy a home away from home.
Relax on our spacious deck while enjoying stunning views and sunsets over the Hokianga Harbour and golden sand dunes.

Living area: 3 seater & 2 seater couches, 2 comfy armchairs, coffee table, TV, bookshelf, entrance way with table.
Dining table: 6 seater dining table
Deck: Spacious harbour-facing deck with small table & 2 chairs to enjoy a morning coffee

The cottage property is completely separated from the church, you do share a driveway however.
It is private, quiet property.
There is ample parking & there is flexible self check-in

I’ll be available to help you with anything you may require during your stay, but prefer to communicate through the app, as I live 10 mins drive away from the cottage.
The neighbourhood
Ōmāpere is a small harbour side village overlooking the stunning Hokianga Harbour and golden sand dunes, on the West Coast in the Far North District
15 mins North of Waipoa Forest & Tane Mahuta, 5 mins south of Opononi.
Ōmāpere/Opononi has a 2 dairies, GAS station, takeaways: fish & chips, pizza, restaurants: The Sands, Opononi Hotel, Opononi Pub & various cafes. Manea cultural museum is another major attraction.
There are lots of lovely walks in the area: Signal station, Tane Mahuta and Kauri Tree walks, Koutu Boulders & Waitomarama falls, to name a few.
2 boat ramps available; 1 in Omapere, 1 in Opononi.

Summary: I am travelling around Northland and it has been a joy to stay in this immaculate home. New and spacious it met all my needs. Great to have a full well equipped kitchen, a laundry and washing line and a very comfortable living room. The house was very clean and fittings all new. Ōmāpere was a great place to base my explorations.

Summary: We didn't want to leave. It was a perfect base for both exploring walks, the beach and for relaxing. Beautifully presented, clean, warm and cozy. The view from the bedrooms and lounge/kitchen were also stunning. Great communication with the host and easy instructions. Highly recoomend. We will be back

Summary: This is a lovely, newly built property with a view of the beach and a short stroll across the road to a great cafe, the wharf and beach access. There are a great range of games and comfortable furnishings in the home and a clothesline which dries clothes, swimwear etc in no time. All appliances are full sized which is perfect when travelling with a family. There is little to no reception in the house and no wifi - perfect if you're planning to unplug but could be an issue if you are working remotely. The only issue for us is that the aircon unit doesn't appear to be the correct size for the home, we had hot weather while we were there and even with curtains closed to block sunlight the aircon wasn't able to cool the bedrooms. In saying that, we visited in January so we had very high temperatures. I gave four stars for accuracy of online listing as at the time that we stayed there was little outdoor furniture, just two camping chairs and a camping style table, however the empty deck was clearly shown on the photographs. Overall, you can't go wrong booking the Freese Cottage. A really lovely little home away from home :-)

Summary: The accomodation was excellent and we really enjoyed our time there with our family. Nothing like waking up to the beautiful harbour and scenic views and having daily morning and evening swims. Such an amazing and relaxing place. Loved it.

Summary: I booked this stay for our 6 day family holiday and it provided us with everything we needed. The property was clean, warm, cosy & very homely. Surrounded by nature with mountain views, cows & a stunning view of the ocean it was very easy find myself in a calm, spiritual and meditative state. Communication from property manager was superb and easy to understand. Overall we LOVED our stay and found this home beautiful, calming and soothing for the soul. we would definitely rebook in future. Thanks for having us!
