Gibson Cottage was built by one of Nelson's first settlers, John Gibson in 1843. It has been beautifully restored and is a very comfortable and wonderful place to stay for up to 6 guests. It is private but close to neighbourhood amenities of an excellent coffee shop, dairy, acclaimed Nelson's waterfront restaurants and Nelson's best fish and chip shop. It is also less than 2 minutes walk to Blackmore Cottage if you have friends or relations staying there. A 10 minute flat walk to central Nelson or the Trafalgar Centre or the Boat House.

10 minutes flat walk to Nelson's famous Saturday markets, easy walk to yacht club and marina. On the Nelson cycle trail and a bus stop less than 100 metres away. We can provide safe lockable bike storage.

Summary: Lovely property to stay in. A beautiful job has been done to refurbish it. Found it a little cold when we first arrived and my mother found the path up to the house a little challenging. All in all a very comforting stay. Communication from the host was fantastic.

Summary: Beautiful cottage in the heart of Nelson with excellent amenities. Close to shop and cafe. The only downside with listing is, it is on a very steep incline and very difficult to manoeuvre luggage up the pathway. A full frontal picture of the property in the listing site would help future holiday makers decide whether or not the property meets their needs. Front path leading to the house is very slippery as well.

Summary: We loved staying at this beautifully restored cottage. Check out and In was very easy. Location is great and while next to the main road the noise was very limited due to being above it. Parking was just below the cottage so very easy access. It was a lovely touch that the hosts have breakfast ready with milk and margarine in the fridge, bread in the freezer and breakfast breads. The only down side of our stay would be the bed in the master room. It is comfortable for one but if you have a second person in the bed and they make any move the bed rocks and squeaks. Value for money is great and we would definitely stay again but hopefully the bed in the master room might be upgraded- I ended up sleeping in one of the single beds which was super comfortable.

Summary: Beautifully restored house, warmed by heat pump and oil heaters, enjoyed the electric blanket. House is perfectly situated with great coffee a few doors down at Sublime and easy walking distance into town.

Summary: We booked this house a year or so ago for 3 couples and because of covid we had to delay our stay. In the end it was myself and my husband for the whole house. Surprisingly warm and comfortable for the time of year, the heat pump certainly made a difference and extra heating in the kitchen area when needed. Full kitchen for cooking, smallish lounge but seating for 6 and lovely and sunny. The main bed was squeaky - not a problem if you aren't a wrestless sleeper! The path up to the house is quite steep and a couple of steps so not for the mobility challenged. The road is busy but we didn't mind that. The coffee place a couple of houses down is excellent and well attended by the locals and the patisserie was worth a visit too. Not far from supermarket and central Nelson but probably need a car.
