Positive: The property has a well equipped spacious kitchen. Some of the kit is a little old and tired but all perfectly useable. It was great to have a washing machine, and everything was clean. You need to be fit to stay here, the stairs go up the turret and the bedrooms and bathroom are on the top floor. We loved the church bells striking every hour, twice! The Abbaye is well worth visiting.
Negative: I should have read the small print as there is no WIFI at the property, my fault, but unusual and annoying. There is a small local shop and one bar/restaurant, but nothing else in the village (the boulangerie was on holiday).
Summary: A good base to explore the area, but limited facilities in the village of St Hilaire.

Positive: Lovely old home with lots of character. Wonderful bakery just around the corner. Lots of close by parking.
Negative: No hand soaps, or washing up sponges. There was a mix up over our booking so the house had not been cleaned or bed sheets and towels changed. This was remedied after we called owners, who, by the way, are charming and were very apologetic. No wifi so used large amount of data hot-spotting.

Positive: The owner's delightful mother lives opposite and is absolutely charming. The courtyard was nicely planted and well furnished. The house is full of charm and very well equipped. The boulangerie round the corner is top notch. We could not have wanted for more
