The property is situated in south west France in an area renowned for being one of the sunniest parts of the country. Set amidst rolling farmlands, which are ablaze with sunflowers in summer, Logis Sainte-Terre offers a haven of peace and tranquillity. The village of Benest with local post office and boulangerie/grocer is three kilometres away, while the larger village of Champagne Mouton with its twice weekly market is seven kilometres away. Here you will find all your daily needs from doctors surgery, supermarket with 24 hour petrol station, pharmacy, bank and cafe/bar.
Ideally situated for exploring the treasures of this area known as Poitou Charente, with its medieval buildings and chateaux etc, La Rochelle and the beautiful coast of Royan, Futurescope (Poitiers), La Vallėe des Singes (Poitiers), Cognac and Limoges Angoulême and Poitier are all within easy reach. The area is perfect for walking (well marked trails leave from the property), cycling, fishing, and other activities such as golf, boating and swimming are also available nearby.
Inside the gite it is well appointed and comfortable. Downstairs is the kitchen and the sitting area with flat screen television and wifi. There is a small table for dining with three chairs and a three seater sofa and armchair. Upstairs is a bedroom with a large double bed and a single bed. Space is provided for hanging clothes and there is a chest of drawers. There is an en-suite bathroom with a shower wash hand basin and wc. and a heated towel rail. Outside is a lovely private and sunny garden with loungers and a table and chairs. There is Weber BBQ. There is ample parking.

Summary: If you are looking for peace and tranquillity then look no further. The Gite itself has been done to a very high standard. Fantastic well appointed kitchen with everythIng you could need. Very comfortable bed with lovely linen made for a good night’s sleep. The garden has plenty of space/areas to sit and enjoy your surroundings. Although there isn’t anything in Benest itself, Chanpagne Mouton is only 5 miles away. Here you’ll find a lovely boulangerie, small (but more than sufficient) supermarket and a bar/restaurant serving great food. Nearby places worth a visit are Civray, Ruffec and Orandour sur Glane. The holiday gave us exactly what we needed, thank you Vicki for sharing your home with us! It was lovely to meet you.

Summary: An very comfortable gite in a rural location which is well equipped with all that you need. The hosts were extremely friendly and generous. There are plenty of sitting out options in the garden. The surrounding countryside is lovely with many pleasant walks some of which can be done from the gite.

Summary: We had a lovely time with Vicky and Gregor, the area was as expected very rural and tranquil,we had a very relaxing Time and explored the area ! Chateaus galore etc and lovely villages! The gite had everything you could possibly need and more !

Summary: What a lovely little gem this gite is. The location is beautiful, very peaceful and private. Our hosts were lovely, welcoming and generous but totally respectful of our private space: they are next door if you need them but never intrude on your space so it feels totally your own. The interior is as quirky as you would hope for such an old building. It has been carefully and comfortably restored with a kitchen that is better equipped than any I have known including my own: it is a chef's dream! We look forward to returning in the near future.

Summary: Pictures on the website are already great, but in this case reality was even better! Super clean, super nice and cosy house full equipped with everything you need to make your stay absolutely comfortable. Really nice and huge garden where you can relax and enjoy the nice nature around and the silence. Prefect place to relax and to reload your batteries. Ideal location to explore the nice area of Charente and make day trips to Atlantique coast, La Rochelle, Poitier, Cognac etc. Vicky and her husband are super helpful, careful, friendly, supporting and do everything to make your stay the best ever. Great hospitality and very warm welcome!

Summary: We loved the gite from the moment we stepped through the door. It was well equipped and it felt like a home from home.So much so we didn't want to leave and plan to return again soon. Vicki was warm and welcoming, very helpful with local info and was available when needed. We had our own part of the garden, with lots of places to sit in the sun or shade and enjoy the peace and quiet with a glass or two of Pineau. This was the peaceful, rural holiday we were hoping for, a great place to relax and unwind.

Summary: This Gite is just what we hoped for; a chance to relax in rural France in a beautiful setting. Vicki was most welcoming, considerate: helpful, friendly and available without being in anyway intrusive. My wife and I were looking for a holiday in a quieter location; a chance to walk, read, explore by car a bit and enjoy each others company. The Gite was contemporary, comfortable and the kitchen was very well equipped. The BBQ and extensive garden with tables and chairs in different locations (giving various views and sun/shade) enabled us to enjoy most of our time outdoors. All in all a welcoming, peaceful, beautifully rural holiday location giving every opportunity to unwind, relax and reconnect.
